Future EVGA Motherboards

Thread Starter
Hey Everyones,

Over the past week or two I have been looking and researching for parts for my next build but I am kind of at a stand still when it comes to what motherboard I would like to go with.

A while back when the EVGA X58 LE came out I immediately fell in love with the looks, specs, and over the months it's proven performance. But as good as the board is I am just curious what is in the future for the EVGA mobos.

With the release of USB 3.0 and Sata III I am just wondering when EVGA will incorporate that into their boards. Since the EVGA X58 LE isn't part of their step up program I am hesitant to buy it since I don't know what the plans are for their next x58 boards.

I am in no rush to upgrade, my current rig is still fine for what I do, but I do like to plan ahead. After this current rig's mobo limitations I'd like to do better the next time around.

I've also looked at the GA-X58A-UD3R but I kind of want to try something different. As much as I love GB, I'm getting sick of the blue look.

So the point of this thread is, in your guys' opinions, when and what should I expect from the new EVGA boards? or will their even be new ones with the x58 chipset?

The only new board I've heard from them is the SR-2 (overkill...lol)

Thanks guys

They will incorporate the USB 3.0 and SATA III at some stage, but like you said, they just released the SR2 which at the moment is their focus point in the market.
If you're looking to upgrade soon, then I would suggest holding out until the ASUS Rampage III Extreme hits the shelves. The release date is supposedly in April sometime.
Thats what I'm planning on doing. There's a thread here somewhere about the ASUS R III E, so check it out, looks brilliant!

Nothing that I know of now. It will happen when it happens.

Yeah, I saw the Rampage III Extreme but I can't really say I'm a huge fan. I guess I'll just keep on waiting, no real rush. Thanks.

It's impossible to plan ahead in this industry, by the time you have your parts set something else new and shiny comes along, rinse and repeat.

for what its worth, if you get a board now you will be able to get USB 3.0 via an add-on card.

EVGA seems to be focusing more on the high end for X58.

They haven't really done anything in the $200-$300 1366 range for ages, only for 1156.

And most boards with USB 3.0 and SATA 3 share PCI-E lanes. Meaning, you can't run crossfire and USB 3.0 simultaneously, at least not at full speed.
