BSOD atikmpag.sys(starting to rage me) - Page 6

sometimes even tho its bsoding on atikmpag.sys its really unstable memory or cpu overclock i was getting those in past and raising my vcore to my cpu made them go away and the newest drivers 11.1 have fixed my issues with like youtube and stuff crashing in flash.

I'm getting it sometimes too, when I watch any kind of stream (youtube, own3d.tv, justin.tv etc) on Google Chrome after increasing clocks on GPU. Games are working fine, no problems with mozilla (i preffer Chrome tho). Strange :|

However, so far no BSOD atikmpag.dll anymore with new drivers (11.1). Just the error: ATI display driver stopped responding(...)

Same here, 5870 can fold fine at 920 mhz but even downclocked to 800mhz It BSOD on any web video.
yea this sucks I got this about 6 times. once when I was about to own someone w my battle cruisers on starcraft. and pretty much all the other times with flash video. I knew it was my graphics card but I never got an error message/blue screen. The most recent crash was because of loading a flash video and it finally gave me a blue screen and the name of the file atikmpg.sys. I'll update the drivers and see if this solves the issue. I have a 6870 and my drivers are dated from 1/26/11.

Its funny, if I update my 5770 drivers to the latest, I bsod in blops but nothing else. I have to run the 8.782.0.0 driver and im fine with everything, but really want the newer drivers! any ideas? I can live with the old drivers but figured newer is better, right? Now if i could find 16 GB of ddr2 at a decent price, Id be happy. Guess i will be getting a new mobo for faster memory huh?

I am having this EXACT same bsod issue. However, it is happening under very specific circumstances.

My system setup is in my sig. I have an AMD HD 6950 card.

Ever since the Team Fortress 2 'Memory Update', that particular game has been very quirky for me. Random 5-7 second hitches (sound looping, unresponsiveness, screen freeze etc) followed by the game stabilizing then returning to normal. It was annoying but I grinned and beared it hoping it was some issue valve was aware of and would patch. (as with any new radical change to the nuts and bolts of the core engine)

However, in the past 2-3 days my TF2 has not only been BSOD'ing my whole system with the atikmpag.sys error, it has been doing it very consistently at a very specific point around 10 minutes after joining a server and loading a map. Firstly, the symptoms are an initial 5-7 seconds freeze followed by stability. Then after a second freeze my monitor will properly go into powersave mode (as it does when it has lost the GPU signal) and the BSOD after that. It will not BSOD while leaving the game idling on the main menu. It is ONLY TF2 that crashes my system and I have been playing much more demanding games such as The Witcher 2 and BFBC2 without any problems whatsoever. I also ran furmark for 15 minutes with a max temp of 60c so i dont think my card is overheating, although that doesnt rule out it not being faulty =/

It is worth noting that I recently installed a X-Fi Titanium HD soundcard around 2-3 days ago too but I have been through the proper procedures of removing old onboard sound drivers, and installing the latest Creative sound drivers from the Creative support site.

EDIT: A friend suggested disabling Multicore Rendering in the graphical options and it fixed my specific problem with TF2. Not a problem with my GPU or drivers (or new sound card thank god). Herp derp.

Disable Acceleration. (Right click on the video, Before it plays....Good luck....)...then disable some acceleration option under the settings.

Ok I am joining the club as well, BUT, theres a big BUT here, with my BSOD with atikmpag.sys error.

The only and ONLY time I get this is when I play my 3D rip MKV file "how to train your dragon" in MPC x64 version. I can play this file in VLC just fine and MPC can play all other video files just fine as well, BUT when I combine MPC with this particular file I get BSOD with atikmpag error ........

I though maybe its something to do with the 3D, so I downloaded another 3D sample file and MPC played it just fine. I am not sure what could be wrong here ...... I only get this when I play the "how to train your dragon" MKV 3D rip (its a huge 15GB 20 Mbps rip) but VLC plays it fine.

My config
Core i7 2600K
16GB RAM
HD 5850x2 CF
Intel SSD

Up till now I have tried every solution mentioned here except updating the BIOS of the GPU, which frankly speaking I am a bit skipticaly to do. My one card is a non reference card so I dont know how it might effect. Plus the issue is really isolated so I didnt think the risk was worth ...... But I would love to have some more suggestions .....
