I'm getting that atikmpag BSOD (0x116 or 0x119 bugchecks) with my P55M-UD2 Rev1.1-F11.

Worked flawlessly with i3.

I can solve it turning off C3/C6 states, but I don't know why it's related to a PCIe card, except that C3 or C6 states may increase/decrease PCI power/freq since my i7-870 has the PCIe controller on-chip.

Hi Indiocolifa,

So you say you resolved the Bluescreens by altering the C3/C6 states? Can you please explain exactly what you did, I'm a bit of a n00b.

Here are my key components:
Intel i7 950
ATI Radeon HD 5970
Gigabyte GA-X58-USB3
12GB corsair DDR3 1300
1200W Odin pro PSU

Thanks in advance

i appreciate this threads a little old, but I wanted to add my atikmpag.sys story.

Having tired all the fixes in this thread I have come to the conclusion my bsod is caused by a faulty card.

I have two 5850s, one Sapphire card, brought when they were released, and another XFX card I brought second hand about 3 months ago.

The XFX card is the culprit, even after a fresh os install it caused the 0x00000116 atikmpag.sys BSOD.
I've installed it in all the PCIe slots available and used different PCIe power connectors.
Right now it can boot into windows, but the picture is either distorted or blank with only the taskbar showing. If both cards are installed and the crossfire bridge installed no games will load. Temps in afterburner are normal and there is a 200mm side fan on my case.

I have requested a support ticket and will see how it goes from there. Hopefully this post will help others getting this error as it can be anything to do with the video card hardware and/or software.

I guess you have tried the XFX 5850 by itself and caused the BSOD. It could be the motherboard too among all other things.

Edit:

Using Afterburner in Crossfire you need to edit the registry or it will crash during game loading or BSOD.

Yeah I have tried it by itself and the XFX recommended way of using a driversweeper and re installing with xfx drivers.

Neither my Sapphire 5850 or old XFX 8800 cause a BSOD

I have two win7 installs, occurs on both, was fine before hand and I was using afterburner

I had this problem a few times its always been a driver issue. however the last time it was because i plugged a wii usb charger into my front usb port. once i unplugged it all was fine.

Havent read the whole thing, but afaik just clean everything then install drivers without CCC. CCC contains the file you dont want and fixes teh issue.

BF3 had been crashing like crazy for me. Typically it would lock up my system and I'd have to reboot. I found the atikmpag.sys error in the one of the event logs, that got me thinking about something not jiving between the game settings and the video card driver. I am running the lastest 11.a drivers from ATI, just released on the a few days ago, so I had no where to go with drivers.

I went through some testing and I think I have it narrowed down to Ambient Occulsion setting in BF3

Graphics: Custom
Turn all quality related settings to low. This will be the baseline starting point.

Disable all anti-aliasing, deferred and post. Motion blur off.

Set anistropic filter to 1X

Set Ambient Occulsion to HBAO.

This seems to be the problem. When I have this set to "SSAO" or "Off" I get crashes that lock up my entire machine, hard reboot is required. What's funny to me is this is the quality setting. HBAO should result in lower frame rates, but that's OK with me if it means stability.

I haven't had a single crash since I made this change to Ambient Occulsion. Played 5 or 6 games last night, and have slowly begun increasing quality settings today, up to 8x anistropic filtering and medium quality settings with no issues. Next will be anti-aliasing.

My System:

Asus P6T Professional
Intel i7 920. Currently not overclocked as I had to eliminate that is a possible cause.
6GB Memory, 2x2x2
Radeon 5970 Default clock and memory setting, again eliminating that as a possible cause.
CPU and GRAPHICS are water cooled.

Hope someone else finds this useful

hi

I'm having frequent pc freeze with this BSOD ( http://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/2012/15/1334346683-IMG_2920.jpg ) which seems to be the same
Hardware: i7 930/ HD5870 2Gb vapor-X / P6TD Deluxe
running on windows seven with latest updates and latest ATI drivers (though this crash first occured a long time aggo)

This can happen while I'm watching a movie (some movies seem to cause the BSOD each time I watch them, latest was Transformers dark of the moon x264 on media player classic, but also happens with KMplayer), while I'm copying important amounts of data on an external USB hard drive (almost every time) or while playing starcraft II (not really often) / when lauching steam (quite recent) . Strangely enough this never occured while playing Battlefield 3 (maybe just a coincidence)

Whenever this happens, my pc will start to freeze, but not completely, I can still move my cursor around even if it's very delayed, and if I take a look at the task manager I get this: http://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/2012/15/1334344134-IMG_2915.jpg each time. And my screen will flash black for a few secs, then come back to the desktop with a popup saying "display driver stopped responding and has recovered" and it will do so until the BSOD comes up. And there's no way to recover from it, I can't even shut it down, it freezes on "shuting down system", so I can either wait for the blue screen or press reset.

Here's my latest bug report (in french though)

Signature du problème :
Nom d’événement de problème: BlueScreen
Version du système: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1
Identificateur de paramètres régionaux: 2060

Informations supplémentaires sur le problème :
BCCode: 117
BCP1: FFFFFA8007A29010
BCP2: FFFFF88004807AE4
BCP3: 0000000000000000
BCP4: 0000000000000000
OS Version: 6_1_7601
Service Pack: 1_0
Product: 256_1

I tried a few tricks I saw, like using driver sweepers on admin session and so on, none worked. I never had any Nvidia GPU on this rig, and I checked my ram a couple of hours, not a single error.

If anyone has any idea how I might solve this it would be great.
If you need any details, just ask
