Please don't take offence, I am just asking because I absolutely cannot get diagnostic policy service started no matter what I try.
I don't know, but Diagnostic Policy Service is totally not required. I always keep mine set to Disabled.

Thanks.

Yea, I think Black Vipers settings are disabled too - it just bugs me that I don't know what is causing it. I have tried everything, I am now prepared to give up, lol.

Are you trying to start it manually? If so, then are you getting this?

If so, then I think that this means it will only start when it needs to (meaning that it cannot be started manually). So if you know that you want this service to be available, then leave it set to either Manual or Automatic. Otherwise, leave it set to Disabled because it's really not a necessary service. I've had mine disabled for years now.

I don't know about Chrome, but I know that with both IE and Firefox, two things must be done:
  1. Change the location of the TEMP and TMP environment variables
  2. In Firefox, an about:config tweak is needed (that I can show later) to change where the Cache is stored (which is different from the Temporary Internet Files).

Although, browser performance can suffer slightly due to using a hard drive instead of the solid state drive.

Is it set to Automatic, Manual, or Disabled? Whatever it is set to, I recommend setting it to Automatic and then rebooting to see what happens.

Hey I wanted to ask you guys about that paging file thing, I don really understand what it is. Can someone give me some insight on that?

I have 16GB of RAM, what size paging file should I use?

Thanks in advance, it's fun tuning an SSD.

Page file uses HDD space as readily available free ram encase all your ram is used up and for older coded programs mostly. Also it is used for saving error dumps or report files. I think a windows programmer said the minimum to keep would be 400mb. If you want a page file I would set it to 1GB, I have mine disabled personally. I see no difference.
