Just kidding--Lando is right about not going past 50c if you are looking for longevity--that funny smell? That was your CPU...I think the Northys are great for OCing--and they really don't run near as scalding hot as the Prescott--but they seem a little fragile. Although I have scorched a few chips, I wouldn't be too worried about the occasional 58-62 when really pushing for a brief OC-- but for continuous operation even 55 is too hot--I have gotten the BSOD and random errors when pushing in that range--with proper cooling you should be able to OC w/o breaking 47-48 (which is going from my own experience using fans and ducts and AS5 and a pretty good HS (for that time) so shoot for the 40's with a big old HS

i have a 2.4 ghz running at 3.0 ghz idle is like 30c whit full load (two prime95s) its 56c .
