Fry's ads on AMD combo's

Alright, you deal hunters out there. On Thursday, I'm going to have up to $120 cash. I don't happen to HAVE a Fry's near me, but an anonymous OCN member has offered to pick up a Fry's combo for me and ship it to me.

So...

Currently there's an Athlon II x4 635 + Biostar 760G motherboard for $90 out the store.

My question is, should I jump on this deal? Or do they commonly have deals this good every week? He says that deal ends on Friday, because they'll release a new one. Should I just go for this one, or hope they have a better one on Friday? I know I shouldn't expect TOO much out of a Fry's combo deal. But the 760G motherboard ought to be halfway decent. Most other combo's I see on Fry's are like NV6100 chipsets with a low end dual (no overclocking).

So OCN, what should I do on Thursday?

Pick it up now unless you can get in on the Microcenter deal (Athlon II x4 + Gigabyte 760G/SB710 for $100)

You won't find a deal like that for awhile.

Sounds like the same deal, except different board brands (Gigabyte vs. Biostar).

Get it while you can.I watch those adds every week,thats one of the better ones for sure.The microcenter deal is great too,you can also get a phenom II 555 be or 720 be!

Would that be a better option over the Athlon II x4 635? I haven't been following the newer CPU's all that much. I just know the Athlon II is missing the L3 cache that the Phenom II's have.

So guys...I'll have money on Thursday. What's the official thing for me to get? Roughly $120 budget for CPU, board, and RAM if possible (if not, I can get that next month).

Get the Microcenter or Fry's deal.

The Athlon II's are within 5% of the Phenom II's in most circumstances.

Which ever. Both boards are of equal quality as far as BIOS & components go. Neither are "amazing" but they'll hold you over for now. You can probably get a good mild overclock out of them.

And the Athlon II x4 635 is top of the line for Athlon II's. So if anything, a board upgrade down the like to an 890X or GX will give you all that you need to keep going
