Gaming CPU - Page 2

Hmm. No fans? ._.

Anyway, my cousin somehow got his parents to raised the value to $400. Spoiled kid. -_-

So, I gave him a quad core, and DDR2 ram. Since DDR3 Ram barely increases performance.

Didn't know you wanted to include fans into the equation. >.>

You're right about the RAM. There really isn't much of a difference between DDR2 and DDR3 RAM.

If I was you, I'd switch that TX3 for a Scythe Mungen 2. Offers much better cooling as compared to the TX3. Get a push/pull set up on that SM2, and maybe just 1 more case fan inside that rig first. So you'll probably need two of those case fans instead of 4.

Is the quad really going to help with those games? I feel like you could make better use of that +$45 and put it toward, say, a better graphics card.

I guess this is the best I could get it to be. Changed the graphic card, and the CPU.

Triple Core CPU - 2 for gaming, 1 for back up I guess? :3

Triple core will help in multi-threaded games over dual core (if the game truly utilizes more than 1 or 2 cores) and will give him a little kick if he does any encoding and the likes.

Actually 1 game uses 2cores, 1 game uses 1 core, and 1 game uses 4cores.

Also, I doubt he would use all 4GB. Even running all those game and have W7 it only gives me around 1.2-1.3GB.

My average use is only around 1.7GB, when I have 4GB.

He's such a spoiled kid, I have to work for my money and get a part time job when I was 15. =\\

I'm 17 now, so gg. lol
