random shutt offs

Thread Starter
so the computer randomly shuts off. i thought this was due to heat. so i am running prime 95 and its getting hot but not shutting off. its a satellite a205, centrino duo. 512mb ram. im running the smal fpu, or whatever test since it will create the most heat. what else causes random shutoffs? and for some reason neither HWmonitor, Everest nor speed fan can tell me a core temp. just all the other temps that don't matter..

nope, there is no click, and i have formatted and reinstalled operating system a lot, and usually they fail the install with a failing HDD... still thinking, and prime is still running without a shutdown.
