Best performance for my money please.

Most of the time that's ATI, but it's not always that way.

edit: I admit, I don't like how nVidia operates, but if they have a killer deal of an offering(think 8800GT when the 8800GTX and Ultra were king) and I'm looking to upgrade, I'd go w/ 'em.

i prefer Nvidia simply for their excellent compatibility & driver stability, even in early BETA stages their drivers actually work very well (historically), ATI have a much worse track record for ''plug & play'' capability.

dont get me wrong ATI have really stumbled on a winner with the ''Evergreen'' tech, but i still think given a little time ''Fermi'' will outshine the 5 series (performance wise), they'll never compete with ATI's (price/power consumption) but i think after a while ppl will forget how hot these cards run & the power they require & just focus on the numbers...

ATI's 5 series launch was a fiasco of issues that went on for quite a while, Nvidia's teething problems will be over long before ATI's were.

but all said & done, i want to buy a product which gels well with ALL my H/W regardless of age or vendor.

I've purchased all ATi from their beginning and have only experienced NVIDIA in laptops. All I've seen over the years about NVIDIA cards are their overclock-ability. That is the main reason I've always stuck with ATi. I never had a legitimate reason to overclock. I didn't want to damage and/or break my investment. I've always noticed ATi being behind NVIDIA until the last few years. Well after AMD and ATi merged, ATi started leading the way, gradually. I expect in the very, very near future that ATi will figure out how to divert PhysX processing from the CPU effectively using a micro-CPU chip on-board. Also, develop and implement what's needed to utilize Folding@Home type applications to their utmost extreme. ATi intently listens very carefully to their high end customers and delivers as fast as humanly possible. I honestly see that NVIDIA is on a downward spiral and past the point of no return.

Whatever is the best bang for the buck.

All other things being equal, I'd side with NVIDIA. Why? Cause CCC is still crap, and I have yet to find a way to set the max frames render ahead option with ATI.

How is that Fanboyism? Plain and simple Nvidia because it has better support and more features than ATI.

no I can read lol, but ive used ATI and always had driver problems with em, I might if they hired Nvidia to write the drivers. But then there is Cuda, and yes it matters to me, I work with 3d stuido max9 and it uses CUDA, and its very nice to have lol. See I do more than game, I may not be a folder but CUDA makes or breaks the deal for me, being able to render the scene over the GPU instead of the CPU is the diffrence between 3 hour render time and a 30 minute render time.

How can you not expect fanboi-ism? Ive only trusted nVidia products as most games support them better. If theres ever something that nVidia cant compete with against ATI that I would have a use for then Ill get the ATI product. Other than that, Ive chosen to stay with nVidia for the time being.

Whatever gives me better Priceerformance.

Fanboys of any company are pathetic if they refuse to see the benefits of another company, and the company of which they are loyal to's flaws. It's a GPU. Who cares who makes it?

I've had 2 nVidia GPUs and two ATi GPUs. (9800GX2, 8800GT, 2900XT, HD5850) and I've had no driver issues whatsoever with ATi, but the same can't be said for nVidia.

At the end of the day, it's some silicon on a PCB. Who the hell cares if company A or company B makes it. It's not like they actually care for you, or would go out their way to help you or anything.

Currently, ATi's Priceerformance ratio is kicking serious ass in comparison to nVidia's, even with the rise in price for ATi cards. They're also kicking serious power consumption ass, too.
