no big difference other than the softwares/accessories it comes with and the warranty period. most would prefer ATI brand mostly because it has 3 years warranty.

zZealoT,

The 9600XT is a good card either in 256MB or 128MB versions. I used to own a 9600XT (128MB) and was happy with it for quite a while. I upgraded to a 9800Pro eventually (although now I've got an X800Pro) and it was a pretty big difference compared to the 9600XT. I would say, if you don't mind second-hand hardware, that you'd be better off going with a 9800Pro/XT. A used 9800Pro/XT would probably be around the same cost as a new 9600XT and ultimately, if you get a card that's in good working order, you'll be much happier with the performance.

I got my 9800Pro from eBay, have had no problems with it at all and clocked it (with help from a VF700-CU and some AS5) well in excess of a stock 9800XT.

Just my , but give it some consideration before making the purchase, it might be worth it.

Highly-Annoyed

9600XT or 9600 Pro shouldn't really be much of a consideraiton these days, for someone looking for an enjoyable gaming performance.

Unless the rest of your system is too crap, you need to shoot for at least a 9800 Pro, or a plain X700.

I would go for gecube with 128mb if its eaven a little bit cheaper. You wont feel any differences betwen 256mb and 128mb on 9600xt if you overclock them.
