Ideas on new WC Setup

Thread Starter
I'm about to invest in a decent WC setup, and I was hoping to get some feedback on these items I'm about to put together. The list is as follows:

DD 1/2'' ID 775 Waterblock
http://www.frozencpu.com/ex-blc-231.html

DD Chipset Waterblock (1/2'' ID)
http://www.frozencpu.com/ex-blc-187.html

DD NV-78 Waterblock (1/2'' ID)
http://www.frozencpu.com/ex-blc-224.html

Hydor SELTZ II Pump (740 GPH... 1/2'' ID) -- overkill?
http://www.frozencpu.com/ex-pmp-39.html

DD Black Ice Xtreme III Radiator (1/2'' ID) -- Look at RIG 1 in my sig, it'll go right behind the 3 virtical 120mm fans.
http://www.frozencpu.com/ex-rad-45.html

Blue UV 5.25'' Res. (1/2'' ID)
http://www.frozencpu.com/ex-res-36.html

Some LCD thing to take up the extra 5.25'' space
http://www.frozencpu.com/ex-pmp-35.html

Lemmy know if you'd change anything and/or what I might not need. I'll get tubing and that non-conductive coolant. Thoughts?

Well this is what everyone's going to tell you as I had the same questions and I'm in the same process as you

1. The chipset block is a waste of money
2. Look at the Swiftech Apogee as its the best block out for multiblock setups
3. The danger den d5 pump is the best.

Hmm... I've heard about the Apogee, but I wanna be able to see the coolant for some odd reason. I'll consider it... thanks for the advice.

I know what you mean - in my watercooling setup I want something to show off. The temp diffrence is probably miniscule (1 to 3 degres). And with that case - it should look awesome!

indeed, most of us are gonna say similar things...

dont get the chipset block
get a D5, danger den or swiftech branded
ditch the black ice xtreme and buy a heatercore

I guess if you really want the bix for mounting convenience, then go ahead... but spending $ 125 on that bix when you can buy a heatercore that will outperform it for ~ $ 20 doesnt make sense to me... Id sacrifice a little aesthetics and ease of mounting to save ~ $ 100

also, what color did you want your coolant?... cause if youre only getting the tdx for the acrylic top, you can browse http://www.voyeurmods.com/index.php?...id=2&subid=209 and find a color that you like or that fits your theme

They made the Apogee with a clear top... not sure where I saw it though. Just search google for it.

Are you talking about that PrimoChill ICE stuff? How much do you think you would need for a 1/2" ID T-line system with a D5, TDX, Maze4 and BIP in the loop? If we just used dyes, what could we use as an anti-algea/corrosion liquid, as Anti-freeze will probably goof up the dye's effect (as it makes that gross yellow color).

OH yeah, here's the acryllic top for the Apogee. *shrug* I think the TDX looks better though....

I've seen the dual heatercore, but will it really out-perform the black ice xtreme III? I'd have to get radiator shrouds to mount the thing (around $10), but I think it'll be an eyesore. That's about the only thing stopping me from getting it.

Thanks for the acrylic links for the apogee, those look really neat, and you've changed my mind on that item.

Can someone add a link to the DD-5 pump? Also, a link to the proper sized tubing that I'll need for the 1/2'' ID, which I assume is 5/8'' OD tubing.

I'm kinda sticking with the blue theme with yellow/green UV coolant.

I'm looking for soemthing useful and aesthetic for the remaining 5.25'' slot if anyone has any ideas...

d5 pump: http://jab-tech.com/Swiftech-MCP655-...p-pr-2982.html or http://www.dangerdenstore.com/produc...&cat=23&page=1 ... both are the same thing

dual heatercores were built to cool liquid while inside an engine, itll handle computer cooling easily... ... the shrouds arent necessary... and like I said, aesthetics are important for some but I prefer performance over all else

you could do all sorts of stuff to hide the heatercore, such as build a wooden box around it to act as a shroud and to help it look nicer... I dont want all my watercooling parts close to the comp anyway so Id put everything into its own self contained box, tub, etc. and only have the tubing and blocks in the case

as for tubing, check out http://www.mcmaster.com and pick some nice tubing thats 1/2" ID and 5/8" OD

I dont like lots of stuff in my 5.25" bays, so thats up to you...
