I just built two new computers based around an AMD Athlon XP 3700+ processor on an ASRock 939Dual-Sata2 MB. Both have tiny issues that need to be ironed out, I'm sure - but both work well for the most part.

One, however, has a more serious problem, it seems. Occassionally (once every day or two) the system will lock up. Wasn't a huge deal, just an annoyance. But today I downloaded a demo (Lucasarts' Empire at War) to play my first game on this system.

While it ran beautifully on my roommate's computer, I was treated to some sounds without any video at all, followed by some 3D graphics that were running at 1-2 fps at most. It was absolutely inane, and frustrating to say the least.

In any case, the one part of any system that I've always struggled with is the BIOS. Could that be the problem? The options aren't that great, and the "Chinglish" documentation usually explains the options like this: "Turn to turn this feature ON, choose ENABLE" without any description of any of the features.

I've found a few sites online that describe some BIOS features, but none are anywhere near describing the feature of my motherboard. Is there anyone out there that may be able to help with that?

Sorry for being so long-winded, and thanks for your time!

Teddy
