SLI flickering solution :)

Thread Starter
so, very recently, I've purchased a 2nd Geforce GTS 250 so I can run them in SLI.
After installation and set up properly according to nvidia how-to guides, I was up and running with SLI on.

went into Crysis, glad to see my average FPS have gone from 20fps to around 45fps ^_^ (over 225% better than single card, I couldn't believe my eyes, thought the fps indicator was broken) with very high settings, natural mod and some AA on.
but when I play the game, sometime the bottom half of the screen would flicker. when I switch to the alien weapon (MOAR), flicker was especially intense!
so, I decided to google my way through this problem
after a day of reading posts in various forums, I've try installing old driver (196.21) and reposition SLI bridge to the right-most connector and such.
nothing helped!

so, I thought my SLI bridge is defective. I was going to MSI's tech support site when a brilliant idea came to me. (light bulb)
Why not run my monitor on my new, secondary card?
so I do just that, unplug my monitor from the first card, and then plug it into 2nd card. (disabled SLI first of course I did this while the computer was running windows (yes, I was reckless, but hey, I was annoyed!)

enabled SLI. put PhysX accel. on my "primary" card (in first slot)
and then I start up Crysis
to my amazement, it ran smoothly WITHOUT any performance drop. fps stay at 45 average. no flicker when alien weapon is used.

so yeah, people who got flicker should try this. according to NVIDIA, using the card on the 2nd PCI-E slot would reduce performance. such lies!!!

I think my old card may have been defective (at least the SLI-related part of the card) but my new card is still going well

good luck.
btw, my first card is the Galaxy Geforce GTS 250 512MB with the old cooler version. it was onsale ($60 after rebate)
my 2nd card is the PNY Geforce GTS 250 1GB ($109.99 after rebate)
so it might have been some problem with different VRAM sizes. but I followed nvidia instructions and enabled coolbits.

oh by the way, my top and bottom card is running at the same temperature now so if anyone worries about their top card running hot, they could try that
