Same goes for consoles.

There are many people out there that are afraid of computers, user intervention, configuring, etc. They just want an idiot proof plug and play experience. And I don’t blame them, sometimes I wish I had a console so I won't reinstall windows, find drivers and miscellaneous software.
Other people are poor. They have a slow old pc that suffices for their needs, so instead of spending a large amount on a new system (no easy upgrade since their system is just too old) they buy an XBOX since they are so damn cheap and mod it.
Yes all the people that I know in my country have pirated consoles so they won't pay for the games *keep in mind I live in a P O O R country, whilst I know a handful of people who buy from time to time original games and software for their PC's

I definitely believe that OC gaming is much more expensive then consul gaming.
How ever i do believe that use PC gamers do pay a premium for our equipment for a reason.

I'm a PC Gamer at heart, but consoles are just so much better with company around. You really can't play games like Rockband/Guitar Hero or Super Smash Bros on the PC with other friends in the same room.

If I could hook up a mouse and keyboard to my ps3 and game on my projector, I'd probably play it more 
I much prefer PC gaming, but for the sake of argument, I bought my dozen-or-so ps3 games for ~$25 each, which is similar to prices on Steam deals. You just have to wait for them to drop in price a bit and buy them used. BDs don't scratch, so used is as good as new (wouldn't say the same for 360).
The other thing I'll give consoles is local multiplayer, much easier to get a decent LAN party going with 2 consoles than say 6+ computers.
