Recommendations on memory.

Thread Starter
After much reading, I have decided that my current TCCD memory is nice, but doesn’t let me overclock to the full potential of the Expert board and the San Diego core 3700+. In the search for better memory, I am looking at these 2 memory kits:
  • G. Skills F1-4000USU2-2GbHZ (SPD of 3-4-4-8, average price $200)
  • OCZ Gold 5002048ELGE-K (SPD of 3-4-3-8 average price $220)

Both are UCCC chips, dual channel, 2Gb kits, DDR500, and 2.8vdimm with very similar latencies. Since money is no problem on this price range, I am looking for observations and recommendation on these memory kits. If you can think of something better, post away too. Your help is appreciated.

If I could run a divider I would see how high my Ballistix DDR500 would go :/

The most I have had 1:1 is 296x10 booting to Windows and running Memtest and Super Pi but the CPU is not completley stable. The RAM is fine, it passes Memtest at those speeds easy, this is at 2.9V and 3-3-3-7.

Unless mushkin makes uses really bad tccd chips, your 1 gb kit should definitely overclock better than an 2 gb set out. The 2 gb sets need at least 3-4-3-8 timings to get to 250mhz, if your tccd set can't beat that, then your set is really bad lol. The 2gb sets will however, outperform the 1 gig sets in applications are games that use huge amounts of system memory (i.e. bf2) or if you like to run a lot of programs at once (i.e. converting files in the background while gaming).
