Pagefile...do i need it?

Thread Starter
i have two 20gb hard drives, both partitioned into 2 other drives, so i have a C:,D:,G:,H: drive. but on my C: and D: i have removed the pagefile... but on my G: and H: drives, the page files are still on there, both 1.5gb each... i need more space for games and media, can i delete these files, or wiould it not be a good idea?

thanks for the input guys!

The page file is your virtual memory which is a section of your HDD. I'd remove one of these page files and leave the other so you just have a page file of 1.5GB.

A pagefile is on a hard drive.
The best would be to have the page file on the first partition on the second drive.
And if you have more than two drives you should have a pagefile on the first partition on all but the main drive.
It wont give any performance gain unless configured improperly.
It only causes instablity if you have too little but need it. I currently have mine set to 150mb.
Because idleing thats what my system uses.
So all of the stuff that should go it does. But all my game data stays in ram

If you have to use a page file it should be 1 and a half times your memory, it all depend in what your doing in apps.

Thats not 100% true.
I run mine at 150mb.
And every app/game runs fine.
