ZALMAN releases premium AMD Radeon HD 5800-series cooler

ZALMAN is giving AMD's partners another choice when it comes to cooling reference Radeon HD 5800-series cards.

The just-announced VF3000A sports twin 92mm fans that spin between 1,300rpm and 2,500rpm, with a maximum noise level of 32dBA.

The cooler uses a copper heatsink allied to five copper heatpipes which are in turn connected to an array of aluminium fins....

I've always been a fan of dual fan coolers.

VRM coolers?..

Dont most if not all of the 58XX series come with a complete cover to help exhaust the air out of the dual slot it takes? this fan while looks cool would remove the that benefit and increase case temps right?

That thing is not enough for cooling VRMs. Maybe under 1.2v but if you try to got 1.30v and more it will cook.

That is one good looking cooler. I would definitely be interested in seeing performance numbers under heavy overclocking. From the appearance of it, I would assume it would show similiar results to the Accelero TT Pro since they share a fairly similar design. Since it isn't using heatpipes to cool those VRM's though, I would be inclined to agree with ZealotKi11er's post above.

VRM coolers?..

Well great, Zalman has gone the way of other heatsink manufacturers and now puts there thermal past in a plastic bag. This:

is most useful on GPUs because they actually need to have the paste spread out (at least ATi ones)

I still have that stuff, used it on ma 5850, then promptly swapped it out for Shin-Etsu. Was probably only a difference of 1-2C though (long story). The brush idea was so good...

Nice cooler though, good to see Zalman is definitely out of their "Copper Age" lol.

this in copper will be nice and will perform like a monster. I would be interested if they released a copper version.
