Virtues i7 980x w/ 5870s in CrossFire & 12Gb Ram - Page 2

Oh ok, Well then like previously stated I would change CPU cooler. Corsair H50, Megahalem, Tuniq tower extreme, etc...

The bigger case you have the better as well, when those 5870's are under load they'll get hot and a uncluttered case with good airflow is essential.

You also might want to reconsider the 300GB Raptor, don't know how much of a gamer you are but my steam folder is over 350GB. Games are big these days and if you aren't sold on SSD Western Digital just came out with a 600GB velociraptor

Keep the Corsair 1000HX! Best investment I've ever made!

i would recommend the new Sata 6Gb/s Raptor @ 600gb, i think it's only 80 more than the 300gb (us dollar)

and are the Asus 5870's the ASUS EAH5870/2DIS/1GD5/V2?

if the aren't i would recommend those ones, pure copper heatsinks and other goodies

Look at my signature mate. I'm very much not ALWAYS waiting. The 700d comes out in a FEW days. It may even be out now in some places. You are waiting a week for a brand new improved case in my opinion. It only improves on the 800d. (Of which I have).

I've read some pretty amazing things about the coolits - for example keeping OC-D CPU's at sub ambient temperatures and sustaining it. I'll probably go for an entirely custom loop for cooling during this next year i'll be putting in SSD and a 3rd 5870 for tri fire.

PS. I've got 30 days till im home for this build, and the company i purchased the items from have a full return / refund policy all i have to do is reship for a refund.

* 700D has solid side panels, I'd rather be able to show off my custom cooling once I install it later on.
