Baldy's Improved Rig (20% ghetto) (Overclocking included)

Thread Starter
So, I just got my motherboard in yesterday.

Apparently this motherboard has the SB710 chipset, unlike what it states on most websites, so yeah, I'll definitely give unlocking a shot.

So after that, I went to pick up some toys from the local IT store.

Sorry for the bad quality. My bad :x

Also got a CM LED R4-L4S 140mm fan, and 2 LED Zalman F3's for a push/pull set up on my CM Hyper 212+

So without further ado, let's see the final set up.

Don't matter the cable management, I'll get it sorted out later.

Did anyone notice how I mounted the fans on the heatsink?

Did anyone notice something wrong about this fan?

ANSWERS:

CHECK OUT THE WIN TWIST TIES.

I actually used twist ties to mount both the Zalman F3's on the CM Hyper 212+. Took out the stock 120mm fan on the CM Hyper 212+ and put it on the front of the case.

As for what's wrong with the 140mm fan, my case doesn't support that size. I kinda overlooked that when I was buying these fans. No worries though, with some twist ties, and some twisting here and there, I got it mounted without any problems.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

UPDATE (RIG COMPLETE(Sorta)):

Yay it's done.

^Winsauce cable management lol.

^Idle temps.

Ambient temp is 26 degrees Celsius. My chip is 30 degrees Celsius, which means a whole 12 degrees drop from the stock cooler. I'm not sure of what to expect with a CM Hyper 212+ in a push/pull set up, but this is pretty good for me.

However, my fear were realized. The 70 degrees Celsius idle temps of my GPU scared the crap out of me.

I will get to OC'ing very soon, I just need to figure out WHY MY AUDIO ISN'T WORKING. DDDD:

And my Optical drive won't read CD's...gotta look into that too.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tried overclocking, here is what I got:

3.4GHz on 1.425v. This is the last stable OC before I started crashing out. My BIOS does not allow me to change the reference clock even when I set it on manual, and I can't up the vCore anymore for some reason, so I'm kinda stuck with this OC. Luckily I'm pretty happy with it.

Is it possible to mount the cooler so that the fans of the cooler blow directly into the case exhaust fan?

kinda like this;

Hey Skarm. >.>

I tried mounting the cooler that way, but then the retention plate won't fit. This is the only orientation I tried which allowed me to screw the retention plate in nicely, so I stuck with this. I myself am a bit uneasy though, as the fan is blowing right into my GPU, but this is the best I could do. :/

Thanks for the comment though.

I would, but I'm really lazy now, might test with different orientations later.

Thanks for the input though.
