How do you think this would fair? Corsair CMPSU-750TX 750W SLI 80 Plus

EDIT: I don't have a huuuge budget, already 50 bucks over what was originally made up. But should be kept under 1'000 with shipping included. I don't even know if the videocards work still. Gotta test them out.

The PSU you linked is the same one that powers my current, and future computer. I don't remember why I bought it, but it has been running for 1/2 a year now without any issues. So I think it is a good choice!
EDIT: I think I bought it because of the amount of people at NewEgg that loved it. (lol)

oh crap, i meant 1'000 for the entire system. hehe.

thats good to know. i've switched it out for a different one suggested by Phaedrus2129. Antec TruePower 750wat.

does anyone know if bulldozer would work in this rig? should i get with a better mobo?

Do you mean Thuban? Zosma(4 cores) and Thuban(6 cores) use the AM3 socket, it's up to motherboard makers if they release BIOS that support it. Bulldozer is set to use a different socket.

I believe Bulldozer is going to be AM3, so it should work, but might need a BIOS update. Whether Asus gives a bios update for your motherboard to support it is up to them.

I haven't looked up info on Bulldozer lately but I thought it used a diff socket. I've seen a few people miss this, but Bulldozer is still a ways away as of now.

Here's my shot at it:

I think if you shop around you could probably get lower prices. I put in the postal code for Toronto and man does tax+shipping KILL it haha. But if you're not basing prices off that than it's fine. You could switch your case to save money unless you really like it. I wouldn't go with an nVidia board because I've heard they're not as good for overclocking. Again if you shop around I bet you could get a lower price

ya indeed it is. so maybe skimping on a decent mobo would be fine. you know if bulldozer will use ddr3 mem? a new cpu and mobo would probably cost about 300 bucks for bulldozer. but i doubt i would need that

cheers for the recommendation! found a good psu for a bit less expensive 80plus bronze even...so a quality is a step up? i love getting help on builds, you find all these nick and crannies

thanks for the suggestion. i think that maybe that might be out of the budget when taxes and shipping is included. I would like to have a bit of money left over for maybe a few new games to game on it. but i don't know if i can even get that.

i dunno about the case, i want something a little more fashionable....as in different. i'm sure the storm scout is a good case, but something out of the ordinary would be awesome.

Efficiency is only one part of a PSU's quality. The TPN-750 beats the TX750W in just about every way, though.
