The CM Hyper 212+ is a real solid cooler and a good buy, I own one myself. The only thing is it might be a little on the small side for OCing a hexa-core to the max. It is hard to beat though for it's performance. Maybe try and get a Scythe Mugen 2 if you can find one. That's a cheap cooler too and offers more cooling headroom. The only problem is it's huge. There's a guy on here with a 1055T and a Mugen 2. He got to around 4.3GHz:

I read some reviews and saw that the WD Blacks are a tad bit faster on larger files. But the F3s do better seeks and faster at small files. Glad you found them. When I went looking for some on newegg they didn't have any in stock.

That was one thing I was concerned about too. The Mugen 2? Is that the same as this? Scythe SCMG-2100

Thanks for the info. Man, do I ever want to push it to around 3.5-3.8GHz.

Glad I could help. Yep, the SCMG-2100 is the Mugen 2 Rev. B that added LGA1156 compatibility. I searched for Mugen 2 on Newegg but it was out of stock. So I didn't bother posting a link. Nice find on that, I forgot about that model. I don't know why the egg doesn't include Mugen 2 in the title.

haha saame. tried tyhe mugen 2 and nothing

Could anyone else give their say in the f3 and wd black change? Just looking for more opinions. I'm iffy on the price and the 16mb cache. Would that hurt in raid-0 set ups, or what about the longitivity of the drives itself?

I would go with wd black caviar. They are very good drives, Wd is a great brand, and high quality drives.

If you're planning on getting 8GB of memory skip it. Just get 4GB and use the remaining cash to get a 22" 1920x1200 screen instead of a 19".
We already discussed the screen size in this thread with pheadrus.
1920x1200 is much more pixels his cards have to push out, and makes frame rate worse.
IMO.

well i noticed one game I like to play (mod for stalker) uses more then 4gb. I can't get it to run on this rig that im on now....even at the lowest of settings. ANd like crucial has said, the resolution would just be to much to handle. I'm going to stick with 1440x900. Still a pretty good resolution and screen size.

heres the update.... still can't decide on the harddrives...

i would like this to be an experience for me as well. kinda already over budget. a hexacore at 215 bucks is really appealing. but man, i would like to play around with the multiplier as well.... but then that's pushing the budget.

maybe i should stick with the 555. I'm not liking the performance of the six core on light apps/gaming performance. a 555 clocked higher would serve me better. save me a few bucks and gives me more overclock headroom. plus core unlocking would be nice. the mobo should work with bulldozer.
