Do you have a USB flash drive? You will need this to boot from and run a command line.

Donwload HP USB Utility:
http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=197

Use these Win 98 Files for the Command Prompt
http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=196

Format a USb Drive using the HP utility giving the win98 files to make it bootable.
When it is finished, you will have a blank USB Drive but it will be bootable and you will be able to execute bascic comand line commands and simply command line programs. NVFlash is one of those command line programs. Simply reboot your computer and boot using the USB drive. Make sure that you have the ROm of the BIOS on the Flash drive and NVFlash.exe on it as well. Then boot into the USb disk. After that follow the instructions on the first pash where it says what to do with the NVFlash program:

Quote:
Flashing the BIOS with nvflash.exe
nvflash.exe -r {press enter} - this removes write protection
nvflash.exe -4 -5 -6 BIOSName.rom {press enter} - hit the Y key a few times to answer yes.

A little update on my overclocking process. I got a bit tired with going 20mhz at a time and testing for 30 minutes for every little voltage bump, so I went up to 1.05 vcore and 800/1600/1674 (leaving memory at stock, not too concerned about having more bandwidth).

Temps have gotten a bit out of control, so I've been running the fan at 100% for this test. I'll likely be reseating the cooler tonight with some AS5.

I may be able to go higher with this voltage, but that's not definite. I don't have much of a "feel" for the capabilities anymore. I'm going to attempt it, but I won't feel comfortable giving it more voltage until I reseat the cooler.

Anyone find or know of any soft mods to increase the volts past 1.087? My 470 will do 850 on the core. Needs more voltage I think, it artifacts once you go above 850. Temps are fine its under liquid, rarely breaks 50C on load even with the overclock.

Oh Yes, you can go a lot further. Such low voltages and temps. The card is pleading for higher clocks and volts!

86C looks fine to me TBH. Yes reapplying TIM does help the Temps on these cards, by about 5-7 C. Make sure you follow the guide over at EVGA to properly do it

Appreciate our help. Just decided im too afraid to try this and brick my card so ill leave it at 825/1650/1900 for now. if and whenever I feel brave enough ill try to flash it and push it farther. My card mainly folds and will only see games when i have off from work so I guess im perfectly happy with the overclock I have so far over stock. Thank again for the help

You cannot brick your cards unless you are dumb. Just be sure to have a backup of the original BIOS of the card just in case, and a spare video cad too. But I understand your uneasyness. Several hundred dollars investment is not something to be taken so callously.
