Hey guys, gotta RMA one of my 480's and before I do I guess I need to restore the OEM EVGA bios. (Currently using the overvoltage bios) Only thing is that the OEM bios file on page one is a .bin format and NVFlash requires a .rom. Can I just rename the EVGAGF100.bin file to .rom? Or is that playing with fire? Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes you can just change the file extension.

Thanks but nope, that does not work. After changing the file extension and trying to flash I get this error:

nvflash -r
nvflash -4 -5 -6 EVGAF100.rom
"Error, cannot open EVGAF100.rom"

Anyone else who has done this before have any suggestions?

Okay, I missed the obvious here. NVFlash didn't like the character length, renamed file to 480.rom and flashed no problem.

listen to remix,

Technically your vid card should be fine until 100C, it's really entirely up to you to decide if you can live with the high temps your card generates. I wasn't happy with the noise and temps my fan and card makes so I switched out my stock for a universal g92 cooler (all cu with 4 pipes) and now full load in furmark at 900/2100 max temps are 63C, in gaming max temps are 51~53C.

Ok,i came across your prob before, all u need is to have Nibitor in order to change ur .bin into .rom

1)open ur .bin file by using nibitor
2)then save it again, but keep in ur mind that before saving it,u MUST select
.rom instead of .bin

is it normal to for exact same MSI Cyclone GTX 460 1GB cards to have different voltages? One card has 0.875v and one has 1.025v w/out any overclocking? One was an open box that's why I'm asking and the lower voltage was the open box buy.
