The VID is simply the voltage the chip will use in full 3D mode, if you simply plugged in the card, installed drivers, and started playing.
Download AB and see if you can lower it. From what I've heard when they pull the chips from the "sheet" they use a formula to determine what voltage certain chips from an area of the "sheet" will need. The farther from the center the chip, the higher the VID, generally. So you may get lucky and have one that will run lower, or that will overclock higher on your
stock voltage if they had a good run.
Don't take this as "the word", I could be wrong.
