I'm just curious... Afterburner only allows up to 1.087v, but I've seen plenty of people around the board reporting stock VID's of over 1.087v. So how does that work if one has a card with a VID that high? Does Afterburner simply not allow voltage control?

MSI GTX470 Twin Frozr unlocked voltage bios. Best gtx470 around, nice temps and overclocks very well, over 900mhz for some benchmarks. 0.975vid is enough for 800mhz stable on my 470.

What do you consider stable? Mine survived Furmark for fifteen minutes at 0.975v 800mhz and I figured I had a 850-900mhz super card on my hands.

But then I fired up OCCT and it exploded in artifacts almost instantly. I had to up the voltage to 1.075v to eliminate the errors in OCCT, and there went my dreams of low voltage 850mhz.

I have my GTS450 at 1.062v for 950/1900/2000 watercooled, i did try 1.15v i only manage 1000/2000/2000 so not worth the extra wattage i am keeping them at 1.062v for 24/7 folding

Usualy I dont use burning programs. This was just for temps. This 470 is stable in every game I play with 820/900, 1.02v. With 65% fan temp 55c and that is what I like about this card. Almoast silent, cool and very ocable. I alsoo own gigabyte gtx 470 with Spitfire and it is not as god as MSI . It is not bad comparing it to other 470s.
I am planing to put MSI under LN2 soon and than I see iF I was right that this card is a beast for OCing. Giga stoped at 950 with no mods and 1.15v. I belive this one will be much better.
sry. for my english.

I installed my copy of FC2 on to my sig rig the other night
at stock timings all settings maxed @ 1680 X 1050 DX10 I was getting 62 FPS avg.
lowest I saw was 32
I then maxed out the volts to 1.05 and set my core to 875mhz. FPS when up to 105
with a low of 65
this is with Intel speed step turned on, what to try it again with speed step off

These cards are amazing when water cooled

GTX470 at 870mhz is brutal card for gaming. In some games over 30%+ fps. It is sad that stock cooler is so bad, because card has a ton of potential and scalling with OC is great..

Similar situation. GTX 580 SC easily survived 15+ minutes of Kombuster with 1200/2400/1150 @ 1.082v. Ran through 3Dmark06 without issue as well. Going to see what OCCT says about that .
