800 gto which one should i choose - Page 2

whats the real difference whether they use the 430 or 480 core any way?
The Sapphire GTO2 is GUARUNTEED to unlock to 16 pipes, they've even started marketing it as a 16 pipe card. The clock speeds won't be guarunteed to OC to x80xtpe, but they should go to x850xt speeds most likely.

Also, even if the Powercolor x800gto does use the r430 core, and the HIS one uses the r480, the extra pipelines on the powercolor will make your card better than the extra little bit of core speed OC will.

what core has the sapphire gto2 have
R480, every single one of them. No confusion. That's why they can flash to x850xt.

im def gonna get a sapphire 800gto2 then and unlock the pipelines to 16 and overclock to 500+/500+

p.s im almost ready to order my new computer but have one more question.

i know this is off the subject but which is the better one to over a 3.4 prescott to 4ghz a ga-8n-sli or a 8I945P-G-i dont need the sli part of the mother board as im getting a gto2 but which mother is overall better to overclock my prescott to 4ghz-im also getting a 9500 zalman to cool the hot prescott does anyone know if this is compatable with the motherboard?

If you can, go with the tt big typhoon instead of the zalman, though double check it fits first. Cant help you with the mobo mate, I'm an AMD man meself

Well, HIS is the best looking, that is what counts
I've been told they are quite good at cooling also.
I'm thinking of buying one of these: HIS Excalibur ATI Radeon X800 GTO ICEQII TURBO 256MB GDDR3 PCI-E, as Staffmania choosed between. It's goodlooking and a great card I surpose!
