Depends on the game. Some with a lot of shaders/etc. put more load on the GPU, while others with a lot of high quality streaming textures put more on the memory. Anti-aliasing also puts load on the memory, I believe.

Good one.... 5850 loses every time. Do you have a point here? LOL in fact at REAL resolutions the min fps for the 470 is within 2 fps of the 5870. Which just means even more ownage.

Thanks for helping me prove my point though, appreciate it.
5850 trails gtx 470, no fanboy, just stating what Im seeing in reviews. the gtx 470 is w/in a hair of the 5870 in some tests. for me it came down to price, I got my two gtx 470 at a great price, far lower then a reference 5850, best gfx cards I have own yet.

Did you look at the card in my sig? I was merely showing that even the 460 gtx beats a 5870 in Starcraft 2 which happens to be the only game I play.

I'm not a fanboy, but the 470/480 gtx was dissappointing for me compared to the 5850/5870. They run so dam_n hot. At least Nvidia has SLI down pat.

???

You like the 5850/5870 because its cooler and performs worse? Odd logic....

These Fermi's run hot, it's not a big deal as long as you have adequate case cooling. Do you? Because my GTX 470 running at 99% loads at 80-90c overclocked and it does not affect my case temp at all.

1c higher to be exact. CPU stays the same.

So unless your cooling setup is inadequate I cannot see why you would like the 5000 series more.

GTX 465 for me. This thing overclocks pretty good and I like the design of the heatsink, easy to clean. I have replaced the stock thermal paste with ICD7 and it is running nice and cool. Here is a screenshot of my OC, I'm still pushing the OC everyday can't seem to find the limits of this one , and my proof that I own it.

I have a friend exactly like that...some people just have it in their head that the coolest running card, and if it's perhaps a few dollars cheaper, it is therefore the best.

EVGA GTX 470 SC+ owner here. Howdy.
