BUT (Red Guy voice) this is with this getto mod:

You have to keep in mind that furmark doesn't really work right on 400 series, it's pretty much useless for any card as a stability test but especially those, which were made to throttle with furmark & kombustor.
Not bad though, Mine was folding for a long time at 850Mhz & rarely saw 75°, I never really got the whole fermi hot thing since 480s ran much cooler than the 295s I was using before.

I don't get it you guys, I run perfectly stable at 59C @ 890core/1780shader/2000Mem @1.025v  with my Gigabyte GTX 460SE 1GBv1. Whats up with the bigger, badder cards getting hotter on lower clocks?

I wasn't using it for stability testing tongue.gif Strictly using it to get the max temps.
Also, the 400 series don't throttle. That was introduced with the 500 series. smile.gif

These card aren't really that bad when it comes to heat. The only actual problem is the fan noise and at ~90% its really loud. Whenever the Thermalright Shaman comes back on stock I'm all over it and with a VR G2 I'll finally be able to push those 1.213v through it without hesitation thumb.gif

higher clocks on a 460s doesnt mean its faster than a lower clocked 480 for example.

the Memory Interface Width is different on both cards. the 460s has less vram than the 480, stream processors are different and the PCB is different aswell

I'm just saying, is the difference really worth the heat difference at lower clocks? I wouldn't know personally since I've never owned a high-end GPU, but my single GTX460SE seems to handle everything I throw at it just fine, and makes decent marks.

Can I still apply for this? The last reply seems to be a couple months old..
Well, I currently only have 1, but I love it. Best $200 I've ever spent.

I wish I could have given screenshots as well but my motherboard is currently at Asus for repair/replacement..so who knows when I'll get that back.

Anyone tried taking the GTX 480 apart? I need to remove the outside shrouding for painting... How hard is it to disassemble? Anything I need to watch out for? I have taken apart an external exhaust card before.

The outer shroud on a GTX480 is easy to remove. Just be very careful when you are doing it. You need to gently push in the plastic clips around the edge, but they can break very easily. I think there are 3-4 on one side and 3 on the other. Its also a great way to remove dust from the fan and the cooling fins.
