Lol yeah, I hate how much shorter they are. Now they're so short I can see my SATA cable tips on my board...

How are you liking the GTX470, you prefer it to your 5870?

I would take it now over the 5870, but at the original MSRP of the 5870 $379(what I paid), no.

You really want to see the full potential of Fermi, water cool it no doubt.
Definitely runs hotter than the Cypress, increase the voltage on the 470, look out.
Fan speed is not so bad, 45% 5870 = 75% 470, as far as noise is concerned.
But the 470 constantly needs > 75% fan speed just to maintain decent gaming temps.
I was at 100% during Vantage and it still hit 100°c, voltage was increased of course(1.08v), also have 2 cards in the box.
Compare that to the 5870 @ 85%, 1.25v and not seeing > 70°c during Vantage.

Also the 470 I have in my other box runs about 10°c cooler, it's maintaining the same temp with 1200 fewer rpm on the fan.

Prefer?
IDK yet

Here are a few benchmarks I've done so far.

Hmmm, definatly something to consider. I was hoping that when the GTX470 came out my decision would be clear cut second 5770 or a GTX470/5870 but its not

I'm also a sucker for things like Physx, I just love it when games have good physics and destrucable enviroments in games.

Here is Metro2033 fraps log from playing the tunnel portion all max settings including advanced dof, advanced physics, and tessellation @ 4xMSAA with 3 GTX480's at stock. Also I used the SLI Indicator and it seemed to max the green bar out so I would conclude that trisli is being used.

Took me a hair over 7 minutes to play that section. Forgot to mention resolution was set at 1920x1200.

2010-04-17 13:10:12 - Metro2033
Frames: 18699 - Time: 432088ms - Avg: 43.276 - Min: 19 - Max: 84

*edit* this was apparently with only SLI. I had a bug. I'll rerun it with trisli.
