Hmm, that's the first I've seen of a PNY being the 8-chip 030 model.

I guess that makes sense. The whole point of these unlockable GTX465's was to get rid of defective GTX470 GPUs. I guess stock must be slim now.

I have 2 GTX 480's coming to my house within next week. I'm planning on selling one of them back but I figure I might as well get them up running SLI and do some testing with CPU bottlenecking and benchmarking. Do you guys think a 1050W PSU is sufficient in handling these 2 cards?

All 465's have voltage control. Where have you been?

Furthermore. If your card does have a GF100-030-A3 there should be no reason why u could not flash it and gain the extra cores. I assume you have tried?

LOL, no.

Try Opening YOUR Eyes. Heh. Anyways, you couldn't be more wrong. The GTX 470 and the 465 have the same PCB. The ONLY thing that differs between the two is the GPU and two ram IC's. Companies needed to get GTX 465's out the door ASAP and all they had was GTX 470 gpu's so figuring that they are the same PCB's, flashed a 465 bios to some 470's and sent em out the door. Effectively disabling the 2 RAM IC's and the extra cores and ROP's within the GPU.

Fact.

I can tell you didn't research this. Or you just think you know the market, but its not a binning issue for the 470's. That or your source is less than creditable. Either way, not attacking you bro, just requesting you get your facts straight before you spit them out on a forum like this. No room for error here.

First of all, I'd like you to show a little respect in your posts for both myself and your fellow OCN members. We have done nothing to aggravate or disrespect you in anyway and we'd like you to do the same in return.

Secondly, I am not sure where you are getting your information from but if you would like to know what is indeed the real reason why "unlockable" GTX465's exist, this is a quote from the exact article that explains the entire backstory of the situation:

Quote:
As a matter of fact, many AICs were allowed to manufacture GeForce GTX 400 series graphics cards since NVIDIA started shipping the GF100 GPUs. GTX 470 was supposed to feature “GF100-275-A3″ GPU and 10 memory chips. However, some of them were not shipped due to the failure of going through the factory test.

When GeForce GTX 465 was released, the manufacturer finally found a way to clean up these inferior GTX 470s in the name of GTX 465 by disabling some stream processors and memory chips.

This is exactly how those unlockable GTX 465 came into being.
As for the real and original GTX 465 with “GF100-030-A3″ GPU and 8 memory chips, NVIDIA deracinated the possibilities of being unlocked from the beginning.
