Thread Starter
Well i just bought a XP-90C with a vantec tornado and i was wondering what is the best way to clean the compound off the CPU. I also orderd AS5 and AS cleaning solution stuff.

Edit-I wasnt sure where to put this and since i have a P4, i decided to put it here.

Rub it with a lint free cloth at first then use a q-tip to clean the edges.
You can also use Isopropyl Alcohol ( > 95%).
Check Arctic Silver website for detailed instructions on how to apply the thermal compound.

I think you just use some rubbing alcohol with a cloth that isnt going to fall apart on the processor.

Ok, thanks guys. The AS cleaning solution is rubbing alcohol (i think). I have been looking for 99% rubbing alcohol but havent found any in my town.

I use this stuff called "Goof Off". Just spray some on a rag and whipe the compound off. It takes it right off without much rubbing.

Well on the artic site it said you could use a coffee filter, has anyone tried that. I think i will try that.

I typically use coffee filters and 100% isopropyl alcohol. That works like a charm.
