I have ASUS RT-AC66U router. It uses 2.4 and 5GHz bandwidth. I also use the high speed for me and lower speed for guests. (I don't have the ac devices yet, but my n laptop is faster than my g one...) There is a difference of x8-x9 between G and N (theoreticly)
Not sure anymore wich type (a/b/g/n/ac) uses wich GHz...

802.11a : 6,9,12,18,24,36,48,54Mbps
802.11b : 1, 2, 5.5, 11Mbps
802.11g : 6,9,12,18,24,36,48,54Mbps
802.11n : up to 450Mbps
802.11ac: up to 1300Mbps
