Budget Build (to Sell)

Thread Starter
I'm trying to get into the business of profiting off my knowledge of computers

Could you guys whip up the cheapest AMD build you can that would still be able to run XP, word, basic internet stuff etc?

I'm thinking single core, 2.0GHz, 1-2GB RAM, probably 250GB hard drive, some flashy case with a cheap PSU included.

I'm pretty unfamiliar with AMD cpu/motherboards, and the different socket types, etc.

That's a nice CPU+Mb combo, +rep.
I looked at that CD drive and it's got some complaints (people saying it dies in a few short months) I'll get the SONY with higher reviews for a couple bucks extra.

Thanks!

Was thinking about doing this also. At first it seems pretty easy to do a better job than best buy. then you remember you have to make a profit after labour, location lease, utilities etc. Then you understand best buy. Then you think ok i can internet it. then you see that is already done many times over. Then you get sad. Haha. But if you are trying to get the bargain basement crowd that only sees your stuff is cheaper than best buy but with a 2.7 processor(over a i5 750@2.66) and 12 GB of ram(although its DDR1@333MHZ) then you got yourself a business model.

Um, the am3 semprons are basically single core athlon II's. They're fast for what they are. Runs on 45w, temps have been lower than ambient with good cooling, 1m cache, a good ht link, and everything else about it makes it a good deal to me.

Honestly, most people don't even use a dual core to its full potential. You could make a profit by using parts that you already have. PSU, case, and hd. Use onboard gfx from mobo, used cpu, and some ram.
