SpeedStep + Overclock?

I have successfully overclocked my Core i5 750 from 2.66GHz to 3.5GHz, hitting 60 C max, running Prime95. I'm still a little worried about the core voltage though, it seems a little high.

I'm just wondering if it's possible to turn on SpeedStep with an overclock?

Well I have Speedstep enabled on my overclock because my pc is left on 24/7 and I have a conscience about knowingly trashing our planet unnecessarily. 60C is low though I'd have thought - it doesn't look like you're trying very hard

I don't know how much SpeedStep varies from Cool n' Quiet, but I have CnC turned on with my overclock. It goes seamlessly from 3.6ghz to 800mhz while idle. CnC does not work, however, when I overclock to 3.8Ghz or higher.

Awesome, so I can turn it on. Alright, and yeah, I don't really want my temps to be higher than 60C, I get 80C when it's at 3.8GHz. Thanks!

EDIT: And I can't seem to find an option to change the core multiplier anywhere, I have a P55 chipset and an Asus P7P55-M if that helps any.

In the BIOS if you change the settings to manual you can adjust the CPU Ratio. I have the P7P55D Pro, I believe it is the same BIOS.

Edit: Your Core voltage shouldn't need to be that high. At 3.6GHz I run stable 8 hours of prime95 at 1.18V.

Alright, thanks. I have the voltage set to auto, so I guess I'll need to change that. But as for the voltage thing in BIOS, the highest is 0.8xx. What's up with that?

The lowest is 0.8xx. The highest is at least 1.5V. Keep pressing the + key until it gets up to about 1.2V. That should also drop your load temps somewhat.

Keep trying to set the voltage yourself and booting into Windows, then prime95 for about 10 minutes. If it seems stable then, try a little bit lower until you seem to have hit your limit. From there step back and test for a good 8+ hours for stability.

Ok. Disable Intel SpeedStep and that TurboMode. Put your BCLK on 180. DRAM frequency Auto, and QPI the lowest that you can set it.

The max that you can raise the VCORE is .63V? That doesn't make any sense. Have you updated your BIOS to the latest version recently?
