Remember, no static surfaces! lol. You probably know, but I've seen horror stories.

Downgrade your case, downgrade your PSU, upgrade your 5770 to a better card, ditch the second DVD burner.

OKAY! i finished the build! everything is up and running, I am just waiting for windows 7 to arrive tomorrow. I have learned a LOT from this build. The first time i turned it on I had no video output, guess what? i forgot to plug in the CPU power cord....anyways, I'll get pictures up either tonight or tomorrow.

AWESOME! I just did my first build a couple weeks ago.....

Geez, I'm digging that Antec 900 case everytime more and more everytime I see it......

Did you ground yourself with a antistatic strap or such when working on it?

BTW, I have the same PSU but in 750watts from Corsair. Big thick, non modular cables, suck for cable management! But I still ran the cables through the back of the motherboard tray!

BTW, should his fan on his PSU be facing up? Isn't there vent holes under the PSU on the A-900, so the PSU fan should be on the bottom?

haha sweet.
and yeah i like the antec 900 case too. i can see how some people might not have a lot of room or cable management issues. from what i have seen, many people cut holes in the motherboard tray to solve that problem.
and the PSU is facing the right way i am pretty sure, one particular manual told me to have the fan facing up no matter what.
one question. i think my ram was defaulted at a very low frequency. how would i go about changing the frequency to 1600 or even 1333? i think it is at like 800 or even lower possibly.

I wouldn't recommend the 900 case to anyone, maybe the 902. As a former owner cable management is a complete nightmare (especially for non-modular psus) if you don't do heavy modding which is kinda pointless when you can get a HAF 922 or CM 690 II for the same price. Also the PSU has to be facing up as there aren't any holes in the bottom for it unless you mod your case.

I just recently swapped from a 900 to a Storm Sniper and the difference in cable management is amazing. The tool-less design of the Sniper also blows away the Antec 900 which I feel is pretty antiquated now.

As for the ram, you need to go into your BIOS and manually configure the settings. You also need to set the voltage and timings to whatever your memory is supposed to natively run. I think you have the same G.Skill Ripjaws as me judging by the pic, to run 1600, you need to have timings of 8-8-8-24, at least for me anyways as it would not run stable at 1600 8-7-8-24. Though I'd recommend setting it to 1333 and then just tightening the timings as much as possible since AMD benefits more from timings then memory speed.

okay thanks. and ya Ikthus is right about the cable management thing, the storm sniper and HAF 922 seem like better deal and i have had my antec 900 for....4 days. but for me it really is not that bad and i am still happy with it for now. the screw-less/tool-less features of the other cases would be very nice to have.
so my ram should be pretty safe running at 1.65v and a CAS L of 7, since that is what the specifications list? if i kick it down from 1600 to 1333....

Ya don't get me wrong the 900 is an OK case, but without any cable management holes, the clutter in the case bothered the hell outta me (I've got huge OCD lol) and made me change cases

But from the pics you posted earlier I think you did a pretty good job, better than what I did with the same PSU and case...(it's here if you want to see it, also prepare to cringe )

And for your RAM you can even undervolt it since it'll be running at 1333 instead of 1600. I set my DRAM Voltage to "Normal" in BIOS which was 1.5V for me and it's running stable. BTW are these the Riipjaws you bought? For me I was able to lower my timings to 7-7-7-20-1T and 27 tRC @ 1333 1.5V.

ya i may end up cutting some holes in the motherboard tray later.

haha thanks, the storm sniper looks nice with that cable management goodjob. i wish it had a nice window like the antec 900 though.

and yes that is the ram i purchased, wow, the price has gone up nearly $20 in total lucky me. and thanks for that info, i will try to tweak and let you know how it goes.
