Ok, how this works is there is a corresponding number next to the section of the review.
That number will be in big font next to that part of the review down below.
Lets say Crysis and Bad Company 2 results are number "5" in the table of contents.
If you would like to see those results, you would scroll down the review until you see a big number "5".

Final Thoughts
Oh boy are these cards priced right. The 5870 gets about 10% on the 470 and its about 10% more money. So as far as price/performance goes, they are very even right now. There are some key facts about these cards that I would like to discuss. First up is drivers.

Right now Fermi is using BETA drivers and let me tell you, they are atrocious. A lot of games GPU usage is only in the 50% range. It is these types of problems that are fixed with newer drivers as they become more optimized for specific engines. That being said the 5870 has had more than 6 months of optimization and even though it still has room to grow, it sure as hell doesn't have as much room as the 470 does. My expectations are the GTX 470 hitting or even beating the 5870 in performance as driver optimizations come out.

I was not expecting this card to overclock much past the stock clocks. Most of this prediction was based on the idea of these cards running uber hot, however, this could not be more wrong. The auto fan profile on the GTX 470 is what allows it to hit the higher temps. This was done for noise reasons as the fan on the 470 starts become audible at about 70%. Yes, 70%. This fan is quiet and very efficient. A custom fan profile or a manual fan speed keeps this card in the 60s while gaming which is right around the 5870 temps, but the 470 is a tad quieter. Back to overclocking.
In this test I ran a modest overclock on the 470 of 740MHz on the core. The reason I say that is modest is because with the recent release of Afterburner 1.6.0 BETA 5 added voltage control to these cards. I managed to pull out 900MHz on this card (a 50% overclock!) using the stock cooler. I am sure I will be able to go higher when I get aftermarket cooling on this card because the stock cooler that I am using is "broken" and doesn't put proper pressure on the GPU. Most 5870's hit is the lower 1GHz range which is a nice 30%ish overclock.

As far as the better buy goes, the GTX 470 gets my vote. Being an owner of both cards and having no particular bias towards a company I have to say that the GTX 470 is one of the most well rounded card I have ever owned. Its superb price point keep it right on track with selling prices right now and the price/performance/future-ness is outstanding.

I hope you guys enjoyed this review. Its not entirely finished yet so please check back in for more updates!

Contagion out.

Very nice review. REP+

The GTX470 is showing some real good performance in places. Cypress excels at maximums, but Fermi likes to keep good minimums, which is admittedly more important than the maximums. If I could afford either of these, it would be a tough choice because performance is all over board w/ these two cards. BUT WTH WITH 418FPS MAX ON MW2 W/ 5870 ???

Something about the 5870 made MW2 bow down to it for a minute.

I really enjoyed this review bro. I'm going to get a 470. It fits exaxtly what I need, and is priced right in my comfort zone. The 5870 outperformed the 470, but the 470 beat the 5870 allot in the min framerates, which I was more interested in. Combine that with PhysX support and I'm in.

Again, great review bro.
