I'd love to see an article on Enermax, I don't have a clue on most of those units.

And I'd like to see Silverstone too.

Jeez people, I can't write an article on every company ever. I'll get around to it eventually, ok?

Hello, My question is on the BFG EX 1000 and the ripple issue exceeding ATX spec from a jonnyguru.com review which was done in 2009.

http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php...Story&reid=151

I've recently also read that since then and prior to the company going out of business there was a revision of that PSU which installed larger capcitors that solved that issue. I have scoured the internet but have not seen a newer review after the revision. I'm curious if this actually was solved and if any reviews have been done after it?

http://www.ocia.net/reviews/bfgex1000/page6.shtml

http://www.hardocp.com/article/2009/...power_supply/9

http://www.pureoverclock.com/review.php?id=811&page=6

At lower loads this PSU is great and totally efficient on every review I've read. Other than running hot at full load which it can handle, I'm more worried about the ripple suppression being over ATX spec.

I've purchased a BFG EX 1000 from Cyberpowerpc.com and learned of this problem afterward. I've also read that after the revision they were certified bronze.

http://www.80plus.org/manu/psu/psu_r...00W_Report.pdf

I read about the revision here.

http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?...light=bfg+1000

I hope someone from Overclock can further explain or help me figure this out.

Thank you in advance.
Daniel

Well I found out my answer from the JonnyGuru site from the site owner himself. BFG was liquidated approximately in Aug, 2010 They did in fact fix the ripple issue with more capacitance prior to going out of business. So OklahomaWolf will not be doing another test on the BFG EX 1000 since the company is now defunct and most likely no one else. BFG sold off the rest of the psu's and what's left in the market is what's still being sold currently.

Last quote from JonnyGuru site founder "There's nothing wrong with using the EX-1000, even if you push it to 1000W. It's not a poor quality unit and the ripple was only out of spec on Wolf's sample and only at full load and it was barely out of spec. Give me a break. You're talking like it's a Powmax or Deer or something." Unquote.

Got my answer on this thread I started on December 12, 2010.

http://www.jonnyguru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7378

The BFG is in fact a decent kilowatt psu especially at low loads even surpassing some others in it's category. It does get hot at full loads but that doesn't shut it down and doesn't have anything to do with hurting the components in a computer. It's a great alternative for those on a tight budget and recommended to anyone needing 900 watts who wouldn't get to full load anyway.

Thanks for anyone who was looking into this. Thought I'd update this question and put it to rest. I'm keeping my BFG EX 1000 in my rig contently.

so what is the best PSU at the current date? That will be enough for one 580 and slight overclock for i7.

Any quality 550W, and please start your own thread if you have a question. This is an index page, and maybe a generalized comment/suggestion page, not a "post here with questions" page.
