If you're using a thick TIM then spread it, if it's thin TIM then use the dot application.

Well, I finished and all seems good. I ended up not spreading the paste because I tried once and failed.. Used about a mini pea size dot and let the heatsink spread.. I took it off to see how good it did, and it covered it pretty good so I cleaned it off and did the exact same thing.

So far temps are looking a little better dropping from 44-45*C idle to 39-40*C idle, and so far the highest i've seen the temp go is 65*C in 3DMark06. Haven't tried any games yet, but 3dmark used to get my temp up to 77*C easy. All of this is with an ambient of 80*F (27*C)

I'm happy with the results nonetheless!

Awesome I'm glad your results turned out similar to mine. I'm in need of cleaning mine again, maybe a weekend project to clean my whole rig.

Just ran through the final battle of Crysis to see how it would hold up... highest temp was 71*C with the fan speed at 80%. Works for me!

Sooo THAT'S why it was so hot in there!

And this is where it lives

If you check some of the screenshots, even in this thread, there are 65nm GTS250's too . The GTX+ and GTS250 do have die shrinked versions (55nm), and they can reach higher clocks sometimes. But that's the only differences between any of the G92 cards with 128 shaders. The GTS250's are also a slightly shorter PCB if I remember right.

GTS250s only show 65nm in GPU-Z and other hardware detecting programs because they simply just arent accurate to the newest G92 core sensor

There are literally zero 65nm GTS 250s. Same goes for 9800GTX+
Only the 9800GTX/8800GTS/8800GT was 65nm.

9800GTX = G92-420-A2 = 65nm
9800GTX+/GTS 250 = G92-420-B1 = 55nm

Looks like I qualify as the newest member. I'm waiting for my corsair hx650 psu to show up (last psu was doa...and a POS haha) and i'll post some pics/gpu-z screens. I'm using a friend's standard msi 9800gt with a gateway 450w psu for a temporary setup at the moment and my system is still a powerhouse. I can't imagine what it will be like with more stream processors, faster clocks and a solid modular PSU to drive it all. So exciting... cheers!
