Why can't 8800 G92 join? That's stupid.

Do we have any 9800gtx+ SLI guy's running BF3?? I am interested in what kind of fps you are getting??

My GTS 250 SLI runs BF3 on all ultra settings but I have to turn down the anti aliasing and ambient occlusion. I'm averaging about 30fps.

Anyone know how to made a pencil mod o vMod to a 250 GTS Galaxy 1 GB?

as you can see theres no room between them with my mobo : asus p5n-d s775, so top card runs about 20 deg cel higher under load, which is the main reason I havent tried to overclock them. $$$$ permiting I would love to w/c them, i even thought about a pci-e ribbon extender/riser card but I think i'd have latency issues esp with sli so i canned that idea...while folding(non sli) top card sits between 75-80 and bottom around 55-60. ive tried swapping fans, intake/exhaust , different configs etc , but this is the best i can get
any ideas appreciated , but for now i'd just like to join club
also have 9800gt in my other rig , but not sure if it qualifies

hi guys

i have the xfx 9800gtx+ for 4 year ish now. it was heavily used for the first year and later i took 2 years off just exercises (my body). then feb 2012 i built the new computer with new video card.

my problem is the new machine is too powerful, i realized i like tweaking old things more. i want to make most use of my old machine.

i have the big computer in my bedroom and the small one in the living room with the catleap 27 inch monitor.

yesterday i took the 9800gtx+ apart and cleaned it to almost new condition and put in new thermal paste for the first time. temperature is better now and also more quiet.

the computer spec:

Asus M3N72-D
1090T no oc (because when oc it doesn't idle back to low frequency)
2x2gb xms2 800mhz and 2x1gb dominator 1066 at 800 (6gb total)
emacs 600w (6 years old or so, never had problems before)
ocz vertex plus 120gb on sata2 channel
27" catleap 2560x1440

suprised me that i can run skyrim on medium and get 40-60fps at native resolution.
best part is the card seems to be energy efficient. only need 450w power supply. i picked up a $10 ocz power supply with $10 rebate from ncix but the cable is too short so i put it in my mom's mAtx computer.

that's the background information. here i have some questions.

i talked to xfx support online yesterday asking for a bios to fix the "fan spin down" problem during post. guy wouldn't give me a link to download bios. so i downloaded a bunch from techpowerup and all works except the asus one boot with funny screen colours and look scary. gonna flash to gts 250 one later.

1. does anybody have the bios to fix the problem (hoefully the gts 250 one has it built in like service packs)
2. how come the frenquency doesn't change when i am not playing games?
3. is HD7750 and 7770 noticably faster than this? don't care about direct x just the fps. i can sell the card for 40 bucks as all duchebags sell it for 60 bucks on craigslist right now. but i spent 2 hours cleaning it and sucked in a lot of dust and realized i have my gas mask.
4. why the video card running at x8 ( i know doesn't matter but why? power saving features?)
5. i am thinking going back to vista on this computer. since all the asus stuff for this MB only works on windows vista. good idea? for some reason the cpu idles at 1600mhz should be 800. but even in bios the lowest multipiler is 5. so probably too old. but i am glad it can run the cpu though with full hyper transport support. just ddr2 instead of ddr3 close enough.
6. still have lifetime warranty on this? i registered within 30 days in 2008 with receipt and everything. but i heard xfx bailing one some lifetime warranty is that just for the double lifetime? trying to use it hard so maybe it can degrade enough i can send it in probably get a 7770 back. anybody break this thing and got a better card back? still trying to break the 590 and maybe get a 690 back lol. i am not overclocking the video card so it's very hard to break. just have to run games 8 hours at a time on the weekend. can't have physical damage to have it send back in for warranty. so only way is game hard til it fails. i broke my bfg 7900gtx in 2 years time and got a new one back still running lol.
7. why does mine says 65nm? i thought all the gtx+ are 55nm? damn confusing.

2- 9800 GTX+ is a quite old card and doesn't support power saving features like modern cards.

3- HD7770 is almost twice as fast as a 9800 GTX+ and much more power efficient. HD7750 is about 50%+ faster.

4- Do your mobo support SLI? did you put the card in the second slot? If you put it in the second slot try moving it to the first slot and check again.

5- Unless you need the Asus programs I see no point TBH.

6- I have no idea.

7- 9800 GTX is 65nm, 9800 GTX+ is 55nm. I guess you have the GTX without the plus.

on the box it says 9800gtx plus and on the bottom there is 9800gtx+. in nvidia control panel it says it's +. but in gpuz it says 65nm

anyways here 's a problem. today i am messing with the bios and used the xfx 512mb gts 250 from techpowerup. it asked me a bunch of thins i just press y on all without reading. so then it rebooted and installed driver then i rebooted again can post and can see the windows logo but then after that screen goes black but i know windows are in becayse i can turn it off with keyboard windows button, right arrow and enter key.

so i go in to safemode which works fine and uninstall the driver from device manager and it will boot in windows fine but will try to install driver and if restart will end up black screen the same.

so the next time i got in windows after uninstall driver i use nvflash and try to flash to any of the 9800gtx bios it will say mismatch. so am i screwed? any suggestions on how to set it back?

maybe need to reinstall windows and i am freaking pissed off i can't find my windows 7 dvd again. something used mostly can never find.

are there any other program that will force flash it back to older bios?

it's not totally broken as without driver it will display everything but with driver won't display anything. there is a onboard graphics which is always a nusance. that's why i never ever will get a onboard mb again.

Alright spent a couple hours on this just now and it won't boot with inboard as well. Does the same thing after windows logo. Reinstall get stuck after finalizing. Changed another ssd and changed another dvdrom something. Probably didn't burn properly. Keep looking for the working disk.

Found out nibitor can change bios file so will edit the sub I'd and whatever to fool nvflash will give that a try tomorrow. Wasted so much time probably better get another card. But hey when I am at home i don't make money and my time is free. Will report back in 48 hours

Oh man don't tell me you haven't backed up your original BIOS somewhere before flashing .
What was the clocks of your old card? could be clocks are way too high for the card using the new bios?
Try using Driver Sweeper to remove your drivers and also you can try older versions of drivers

If that doesn't work search for your brands (XFX?) 9800GTX+ drivers in Techpowerup and try to flash it back with a 9800GTX+ bios again.
Also remove the drivers before doing the flash step as I heared it can cause problems.
