New AMD Xion Build.

just got all my new parts for my new system. i must say im far more happy with this system than the other two ive build in the past. even tho it isn't as powerful it runs much better.

Total system cost minus OS and HDTV which i already had was $700

SPECS

AMD Athlon II X3 425 Rana 2.7GHz

GIGABYTE AM3 AMD 890GX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Motherboard

G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333

GIGABYTE GeForce GTS 250 1GB 256-bit GDDR3

Sony Optiarc 24X DVD/CD Rewritable Drive

CORSAIR 750W

WD 320GB 7200rpm

XION Solaris case Mid tower

Windows 7 64bit

32" HDTV 1368x768 Res via HDMI

only game ive tested so far is GTA 4. with all settings at max i ran the in game benchmark. average FPS was 48FPS. im very pleased with that. my future upgrades for this system will be

AMD 1090T Phenom X6
Cool master V8
Geforce GTX 470
32GB SSD
128GB SSD

my system will support all those upgrades. i love this new 890GX motherboard.

also i am leaving the red side. after owning 4 ATI 5xxx cards and ALL OF THEM refused to work in windows 7 playing any games. i am pleased that my Nvidia card works perfectly out of the box. hello green side.

and for all those. ( pic or it didn't happen people. )

You bought one of the most ugly cases ever, and you know it too .

Looks like a very solid upgrade, but I would personally drop the 470 for a 5870/5850.

nice build and upgrade plan. Have you tried unlocking the x3 yet?

man ive had such terrible luck with the ATI 5xxx cards.
ive owned Dual 5770s, and two different ATI 5830s ( one was RMA )
no matter what driver id use with any of those cards. none of them would play games in windows 7. or vista. 32 bit or 64 bit. i tried everything to fix them. first time out of the box with the Nvidia drivers installed off the website and GTA 4 ran great. i think im going green for now.

My GF thought it was one lol...I plan on keeping this case for a while. The 5830s were junk though, waste of money. Go with a 5850. As long as you remove the Nvidia drivers first.
