Maybe not, it seems like you chip doesn't like the cache.

What does one have to do to become part of this club? Is there a form? I couldn't see any membership details on page 1. I was looking to sport a siggy badge too

Ok, so I've got the Biostar mobo as listed in my signature, along with which came a utilities disc with a rather shabby looking software called T-series Overclock III. There's these three overclocking options V3 V6 and V9 which the manual claims are tried and tested OC presets. Anyone know about this software and it's reliability? I'm on a stock heatsink and haven't OC'd my CPU yet.
I'm looking to make a start and eager to get moving!
Any recommendations are welcome!

t-series oc tool is good for htt oc only, there's no cpu-multi option to adjust. if possbile, use AOD to tweak instead, if i remember correctly, AOD works pretty well with the board. forget about those auto oc thingy in v3 or whatsoever, manual oc is the best.

790gx a3+ has very fine voltage tuning option, it can be quite useful if you are very particular in volt.

just gotten myself a x3 425, will give it a run tonite... btw, i'm new to this club as well...

Awsome thanks, I'll uninstall t-series utility. Where can I get AOD? Google comes up with various sources

EDIT: Just realised AOD is AMD OverDrive I think I already got that on my computer. That comes with catalyst right?

Will get to working with AOD later on tonight when I get back from work. Also, is stock cooling (CPU) ok for OC'ing upto say 3.4 ~ 3.5 Ghz on my X3 435?

Good luck with your moves man, lets hope your 4th core is a good one

i'm not so sure w/ rana as i'm still new to it, but from what i observe, they're pretty cool if compared to deneb. just finished testing athlon II x2 in 240, the chip is really cool...

thx for the wish, i'll be quite happy if i can bring the chip to 3.6GHz with < 1.4v, unlocking part is just a bonus to me. if can then good, if not it's no biggie.

Yeah my chip doesn't go above 43 degrees C even on full load. I'm guessing I can push it a bit on stock cooling.
Btw, my MSI GPU came with MSI catalyst and this has AOD in it. That should be enough to OC right? Or should I install a newer version from the AMD website?

the one comes with your cd might not be up to date, but, AOD (from AMD) not always compatible with every single am2+/am3 board, it does great on some while sucks on others.

My advise is to try both, check which one give you the best experience. one thing to note is that you need to delete the amd folder in program files after the uninstalling the existing version. do a reboot after that before proceeding with installation of another version.

I checked the AOD page. It supports my motherboard (790GX). I'll read some more about 790GX A3+ compatibility before uninstalling my version. And I've noted the point about deleting the AMD folder.

Thanks again, and will keep you posted
