anyways, has anyone gotten above a 3.4ghz overclock on their athlon ii x3 when it was unlocked?

Yes, i still have an Athlon II x3 455 while it's not working because I've upgraded my system that did/does almost 3.7 on stock cooler on the worst motherboard on the face of the planet asrock nc68s-ucc biggrin.gif

I have a X3 450, clocked to 3.8GHZ for everyday tasks, and gaming. Nice processor by the way.

How high is actual (February 2013) rate of unlockable x3 in shops? 50%? More?

I'd say pretty high, if you have a decent motherboard. If you look on reviews on newegg there's always a good number of people that were able to unlock their processors, well at least for the one I bought (x3 450)

I bought this processor July 2012, unlocked it to a quad core, then overclocked it from 3.2 to 3.7 @ 1.428v/stable. Not bad for a $65 chip thumb.gif

I don't think they're just making x3 chips. I'm pretty sure they're x4 but 1 of the cores didn't pass quality checks. I say this because I kinda remember awhile back that it wasn't cost effective to just make 3 cores on a chip. They're all fabricated as 4 cores.

i own an Athlon II x3 455, so i guess im welcome here.
no way i could enable its 4th core
anyway, i have "nice" 4.1 ghzs oc but at a high vcore 1.6 (256X16)

now working on stable 4.2ghzs..
Even if you could get the 4th unlocked I doubt you would have reached the 4.1ghz. nice work.

well thanks i dont have to deal with that 4th core.. i have my 4.1 ghzs
its easy with a good mobo,

here's a snapshot of my stability test and the vcore i used

UPDATE:
im not an expert on overclocking or anything related, so would be nice if some1 could explain me why cpu vcore is high when cpu is idle and lower when its at max load.
also i dont understand why when cpu load is over 95% voltage is so unstable.. is it my PSU??? not giving stable voltages.
this is my psu http://www.sentey.com/en_productos_details.php?tipo=fuentes&ctg=BRP%20Power%20Series&prod=brp500

I know nothing of that PSU. To be sure that it's your PSU and not the motherboard, use a multimeter on the 12v line. Put it under load again and see if it matches what you saw.
