I doubt the memory is bad, it's probably the timings that are too tight. What motherboard have you got?

Are those the only memory timing settings you have on your board?
Have you tried running in at the 2T Command Rate?

you can change the timings to whatever you want

and yes i can set it to 2T mode.

but ive managed 1T before at the memory default speed (250mhz)

all of a sudden (after i installed a slave drive) i lost everything.. reinstalled windows and now my 250mhz memory doesnt run faster than 166mhz..

windows doesnt load up if i run the memory faster than 166mhz

Yep, but are there more settings other than Cas, Tras etc. Is there Trc, DRAM Drive strength, Response time etc?
Have you tried removing the Slave Drive to see if it will boot windows without it?

yeh i had to remove the slave drive.... i think that drive died.. cant be sure though.

so i just have the main drive in now.

you can change more than cas yes... although i never do. all settings at default would mean the memory would be at DDR400

but i have to alter the mem settings to get DDR333 for anything to load up in the computer. im stumped

have you tried a CMOS reset? If so, I'd suggest going through this guide: http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11397
I know it's for DFI boards, but it's relevant to any mobo with these settings.
It took me ages to get my G Skill stable. Had to get into those smaller timings and really tweak them.

Also, do you have a 24pin ATX mobo socket and a 24pin psu? Using 20pin psus can often cause problems, ram failures etc.

That psu's fine, it's got the full 24 pin plug.
