Very Low 3DMark06 Scores.. Issues?

Thread Starter
Well after getting this new mobo inplace I re-installed windows and once all was patched up I re-installed 3DMark06 to see if I could register any better scores.. Seems I went down in marks to just 311

Wondering if it's this 6200 card that's giving me the smackdown on score?

P4 2.4C Northwood @ 3.2ghz (1.7v)
Asus P4P800-E Deluxe
2x512 OCZ Platinum Edition (Dual Channel, Blue Slots. 3:4 Divide - 2:4:4:7)
OCZ Powerstream 450w PS
BFG nVidia n44 6200 OC 256m AGP

I've been trying to itch higher on the CPU but it seems I start to lockup soon after 3.2ghz. I know it can probably do better but it seems I just haven't found the right combination of voltage, timing and frequency...

Anyone offering up sugguestions?

This benchmark is EXTREMELY intensive on the computer, your specs are a bit old for this program. I've never ran a system like that but it seems a little low to me..Trying different drivers may help.

Granted she's not the latest processor or whatnot and I understand the 3dMark proggy is very intensive but everything is top notch in the way of components IMO.

How do you mean my spec's are old exactly? I guess I just don't catch your drift, hehe

Your system isn't what 3dMark06 is supposed to test. Each new 3dMark tries to distinguish the top end cards from each other, and make them fall to their knees. 3dMark 06 has felled many top end cards, the 7800GTXs and 1800XTs have had low scores, making way for newer, faster cards.
3dMark is evolving, your 6200 will struggle, after all, it's what the benchmark is supposed to do, right?

Your graphics card is what is letting you down. 3dMark is not a particularly well rounded benchmark. It is to test the ability of your graphics card almost entirely. I only get 2311 so dont feel too bad.

Run 3Dmark01 and feel good.. But yea, your gfx card wasn't really made for
3Dmark06. Also, run aquamark and see what you get for a gfx score and a CPU score, then we can tell what's up. But yea, don't expect too much... I mean, SLi 6600GT's only score around 2500.

OK OK.. That's what I was thinking. This 6200 is my weakest link at this time and was figuring the 3dMark was giving scores based more on the card than the other marks.

In the interium I went ahead and installed and re-ran AquaMark3 and got a good couple thousand better marks than prior so I thinking it's just a more rounded benchmark.

I just wish now I would have NOT fried that older TI4200 card that made me scramble to get a new one so I pickedup the 6200 cause was only one available in my budget at the time (was an accident I fried it anyway).

Now looking at that 7800 AGP that was released. Just since I have no money in the processor and board prior to this Asus/RAM upgrade I've stayed away from other chip packages and graphic buses (PCIE).

Thanks for the heads-up and maybe I'll go grab an older version of 3dMark and see what marks I get for the card at that timeframe!

Gratsi!

Yup, I'd use 3DMark01 or 03... I use 03 because I much prefer scores near 8000 than scores near 1000.

I can get 826 with my 6600LE in 06 and somewhere in the 4000s for 03. My card has only 4 pipelines like yours, but I only scored 661 at stock speeds of 300/400. I'm at 400/496 and loving it. Wish I could unlock those extra 4 pipes, though. My card could probably do pretty well then.
