Pre-Tested CPU 1 - Now Available

Thread Starter
Test Rig
Asus Rampage II Gene Micro ATX Motherboard
3 Gb Tri Channel 2000Mhz CSX Diablo DDR3
OCZ Gamestream 700w PSU
Thermalright Ultra-120 Heatsink
eVGA GeForce 7800 GT

Chip
Intel Core i7 930
Batch: 3943B086
SSPEC: SLBKP

Testing Method
See screenshots in post below!

This process isn't 100% all inclusive, obviously, but is a reasonable guide and way to compare a set of chips against one another, without being so time intensive as to be cost prohibitive.

CPU 1 now posted Test log fell apart on this one as I was still tweaking my methods, I'll be more verbose for chip 2!

Great idea, good to see a supplier really helping the customer know what they are getting.

Nice this is something that would indefinitely make me buy. I would like to see how far the voltage can go south with the stock frequencies.

Like for example test subject A uses 1.1v to retain stability at the stock frequencies, while test subject B needs 1.15v. I kinda like this method better b/c you are demonstrating said cpu's leakage vs another, and not guaranteeing overclock ability.

I've thought about doing that, actually - and debating on doing the "OC" tests at 1.375v instead of 1.3. That's the max spec voltage, and I know people still push it higher when actually trying to hit max clocks... so it may give a better idea of how well it actually clocks while still leaving headroom, vs. at 1.3v it's not as clear. Not sure...

Well doing it with low volts would probably be safer too. Stock clocks on an i7 run pretty cool.

Yea I think it'll be good to try low volts and see how that goes. What's everyone's feeling on doing the top end testing at 1.375 v 1.3?
