theres a diff. between geek squad and best buy employees
i ask a geek squad guy a compy Q, and he KINDA knows the answer, i ask a bestbuy guy a compy Q, he stares at me like im speaking german, and acts like he knows what i said.
sometimes i screw with them and make up stuff, to see what they do:
me:"hi do you know Pi power of the flux transistor in this laptop"
BBguy:"uh yeah, its 400..........pi?"
"400 pi huh, do you have any in 1000 pi?"
"yeah lemmy go check"
* turns to the manager and mumbles 'do we have any 1000 pi power laptops'
*whats pi power?
*uh......... turns back to me
"no, sorry, no 1000's"
"oh, really, this one says its 1000"
"oops, i musta forgot"
"yeah... hey whats the RDMAS4GR(random abbreviation) of this computer?"
"oh its uh...12"
"12!"
"i mean 1,200"
"1,200!"
"im sorry i meant 12,000"
"WOW, thats like totally awsome"
"i know i have one at home"
"HA I JUST MADE ALL THAT UP!"
*runs out of store laughing maniacally

lol

I suppose it doesnt really make sense in buying an agp card when you could just spend that bit more and go pcie with a new mobo. That is my plan anyway at some stage, my rig seems to run quite well for the moment and you can never keep up so you just have to deal with what you have got and enjoy. You would have to be mad to go and get the latest and greatest stuff all the time, upgrading more than once a year would make me playing B2 a very costly exercise and not worth it surely. Ive had my xl since they were released and it is still going hard enough for now.

This kinda makes me mad, I bought a x800gt 2 weeks ago because they didnt have the x800gto in stock, but sure enough 3 days after I bought this one they got like 10 gto's, 10 gto2's, and dropped the price on everything. The list goes on and on.

I guess that's our downfall though, everything we buy gets outdated quickly and we have to upgrade upgrade upgrade. The computer industry really has a choke-hold on us eh?

Sry for the thread hi-jack btw

EDIT: My post is just assuming you have two of the same cards, not comparing the 7800gs and gt. Although if the 7800gs/gt relationship is anything like the 6800gs/gt relationship, the gs could give a gt a run for it's money when OC'ed and unlocked if possible. But then of course you could also OC the gt. Never ends, lol.
You should be able to take it back if it was less than a month ago... Just explain to them that you went in to get the better card and they didn't have it, and didn't tell you that it would be in soon.

So the GT beats the GS, slightly though....just becasue of the pipelines..... but the GS is still a really good card....

my ultra has (agp) - 256mb DDR3 16pipelines......425/1100, the gs isnt worth the money

The GT beats the GS is everything by about 10-15 FPS. I was going to get the GS then realized its counter productive to spend the same ammount of money for a GS and get stuck with AGP when I could get a GT getting better performance and PCI-E.
I'd like to say that I have also seen a boxed "AGP 7800GT" (not PCI) in Bestbuy. BFG brand.
I must be going nuts cause I cant find it now (google). My bad, but I swear I saw it!!!!!!!!

i think they made these nice cards AGP cuz some people have real nice processors in the 478 P4 , I dont know what to compare it to AMD wise but
those processors dont really have PCI-e mobos
and they still need graeat graphics cards
and the 478 one is hard to find and I heard it isnt that great
in a year or two
its all PCI-e and ehatever the new technology is

probly somthing with a crystal matrix and stuff

If you take a look the 7800gs beats the 6800 ultra in ALL benchmarks.

Biomech that 1600pro is less powerful than your x800xt.
