Depends whats he is doing. He can save 100 bucks and get the exact same performance on light apps/games (which most people use the computer for) and get the exact same performance. Then save up for next gen or something? Get a better video card for that 100 bucks?

Try getting a AMD 555 and unlock the cores? If not, teh 555 is only 1-2 fps behind the i7 for gaming iirc.

the op wants a rig thats going to last him a while without the need to upgrade a year or two down the line, more and more apps + games will start to utilize 4 or more cores by then, so that daul core you recommend will be dragging it's heels and holding the rest of his system back,

LEE17: stick with the rig you've chosen it fits your needs now and also any future needs, the 1055t might not be as good as a 750 as far as clock for clock performance is concerned but it will start to shine once more and more apps + games are brought out that utilize more threads.

once we get out of dx9.

then we'll see the use of more cores. when are we going to have dx11 native games. i just don't see this happening for at least a few years, so maybe ya. Depends how the trend of cpu's are expected to be.

I will take the x6 because i don't want to start to buy piece here and here. I want a "futureproof" (it impossible) but i try. Look, i actually have a very old comp but i still using it.

And i change the RAM for G.Skill Eco 1600 CL7 at 1.35V. It look like the be the same RAM than the Ripjaws 1600 CL7 but at 1.35V.

I will update continualy and i will tell you when i will order.

i'd stick with the ripjaws imo, ive heard that the eco series are a bit of a let down and some have had some issues with them, i'm sure others with a bit more knowledge when it comes too ram will shed some more light but imo you wont go wrong with the ripjaws,

also if your budget can stretch a little then you might want to look @ the 2000mhz ripjaws, they should give you a bit more head room when it comes to oc'ing and you should be able to reach some tighter timings as well.

Sry but i actually OVER my budget by ~$50-$75 .

And i will do some research on the ECO series because it is lower voltage and the same spec... so i have thought i will be able to o/c it higher than the ripjaws at 1.65V.

Thanks

Edit: I check and the ECO series actually have some trouble with compatibility with some motherboard . So i will keep the ripjaws 1600 cl7

If you planning to game, get a 965 or a 955. I would get a 965 with the H50. You would have better perfomances and 6 cores games are not soon to exist.

Ripjaws 1600 CL7 ram are pretty good. You might need to adjust the timings in BIOS

I will not only gaming! I have a bad habit to open 100 thing at the same time (like now! Uploadind + iTune + Firefox +...) and my 1 core 1 treat don't like it (the music start to jump an i get a advice (Low Virtual Memory). I want something what i can keep it for a long term. The 955 will tough long to but, IMO, will be past faster than the x6.

I will return to Ripjaws because ECO serie have issue with AMD mobo in a review i saw (I don't remember where ).

Thanks

yeah ive got that same habit too, right now ive got media player, media center running, 2 document folders open, picture viewer running, utorrent open and downloading, power iso open and 8 internet explorer pages open, as well as everest running and 6 desktop gadgets, and even if i was about to play a game i'd still leave them all running, that's the beauty of having 8 threads your system doesnt bog down.
