Intel Pentium D 930 - ASUS P5LD2 Motherboard

Thread Starter
I have installed an Intel Pentium D 930 in an ASUS P5LD2 Deluxe motherboard. The computer will not post. The fans come on and the CD light flashes every second.

This is the second 930 and the second motherboard I have tried. The system works fine with a Pentium 4 HT processor.

Is the 930 compatible with the P5LD2 motherboard?

Do you know the chipset number? Like 945 or 955?

It should support dual core. Do you have the latest BIOS?

I found another post with the same problem that was fixed by a BIOS update.

How can I find the BIOS version or install a new version of the BIOS if the computer won't boot? Do I have to put another processor in that works with the current BIOS, boot, install the new BIOS then put the 930 back in?

Thanks for your help.

Youll have to use your old CPU to boot it and update the BIOS.

This is a new computer and I've ordered a P4 that I know works. I will do the processor swap and update the BIOS when it arrives.

The ad for this motherboard says "Suppots latest Pentium D CPU". I guess not.

Again, thanks for your help.
