Well since Geil ONE is impossible to find...

Welp, Geil ONE is officially gone as far as I can tell, even teh 256 sticks that the Egg had for a while, I was gonna do four of those, but alas, they are gone

Anyhoo, I've been looking for ram at a good price that has good timings and I've found two and I want to see if anyone has any experience with either.

First up is Crucial Ballistix..
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820148007
2-2-2-5 and people are claiming it will easily do 250 for 120 bucks!

And this is what thewaxshop linked me to...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231013
This stuff looks very good. 2-2-2-5 and will get up to around 260 stable and it's only 20 bucks more, looks very good indeed. And it's UTT and that's the next best thing to BH-5

One thing, I'm not familiar with the chips Crucial uses....their definetly not winbond, TCCD or UTT, so what are they? I ask because I would be uncomfortable not knowing how those sticks like being treated like I know TCCD, BH-5 and UTT like to be rubbed

I can't get to the newegg links from here (work proxy blocks it ), but if that is the 3200 with the gold heatspreaders, that is what I have. I am running that stuff at 235 (2.5-3-3-7-1T) all day at 2.8v with no issues. I got it up to 240 for my max OC run and there were no issues with loosend timings (3-3-3-8-1T). I couldn't OC anymore as my NewCastle doesn't want to go any farther than 2.4. But I can vouch for up to 240 on the Ballistix. Hope this helps! Sorry, I don't know what chips are on these though. I do know they like to be spanked instead of rubbed .

If you were in the market for Geil One...then get sme G.Skill. They make great TCCD still.

The Crucial Ballistix PC3200 - Micron 5B G
And the Gskill PC3200 F1-3200BWU2-512MBGH/1GBGH - Winbond UTT BH-5

I know these for a fact http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=415294

I guess you didn't look at my second link? lol

Anyhoo, it's not G.Skill TCCD I'm interested in, it the UTT I'm interested in. I know that TCCD will hit mad FSB, but I need tight timings and bandwidth.

I have the G.Skill RAM, but I haven't been able to do anything to it yet because of the limitations of my Asus board. The average OC for these though is 260 MHz 2-2-2-5, some up to 280 MHz with more voltage, good cooling, and good sticks (the Brainpower PCB certainly helps). If I were you, though, I would get some RAM with some actual Winbond BH-5, not this UnTesTed BH-5 stuff (which is slightly worse, but good all the same). It's no longer in production, but you can find some sticks on eBay for some very low prices. I've been looking at the Mushkin Level II for some time, but I don't think I'll get it until I get a DFI LanParty mobo and OC my G.Skill RAM first. Some other sticks with UTT BH if you're interested.

OCZ EL DDR PC-3200 Dual Channel Gold (OCZ4001024ELDCGE-K)

OCZ Value VX (OCZ400512WV3)

Geil Value Blue (GE1GB3200BHDC)<---The best deal IMO.

OCZ Gold GX XTC (OCZ4001024ELGEGXT-K) <---Not 100% sure on this one, but a lot of people say it is, so...

BUFFALO Major (DD4002-1GKIT)<---The newer versrions of this should be UTT BH, but no way to tell unless you buy one...

Not to be a jerk, but you don't have enough reps or posts for me to be comfortable, nothing personal

Renegade5399, how high can you go and keep the timings at 2-2-2-5 stable?

Micron chips can't do what Winbond chips can do, and they don't like high voltage either.

Good morning! I tested those timings for you (2-2-2-5) and with 2 sticks on a 754 mobo I can get to 220 with no errors. But I remembered that 754 mobos are not 2 stick friendly so for the sake of research, I took one out. And lo and behold I can maintain 2-2-2-5 up to my everyday running speed of 235. But after 235 there is a sharp drop-off with either 1 or 2 sticks. For example at 238 I can't prime at anything better than 2.5-3-3-6 on one stick and 2.5-3-3-7 with 2 sticks. And then at 240 (my CPUs max) I have to go 3-3-3-8 with 2 sticks and 3-3-2-7 with one stick. But since that is almost DDR500, I can't complain for the price I paid. Note, I primed all of those timings I listed for 20 minutes to make sure they were good with no rounding errors. Also, all timings were run with 2.8 vDIMM as that is the manufacturers recommended voltage, my mobo will not let me go higher than that. Has anyone been able to run these at 2.9 (or slightly higher) with better timings? Hope this helps you make your decision.
