O yes to have the $$$.......

1 x ASUS A8R-MVP...see a review and test..here. The DFI crossfire motherboard has got issues with the ATI southbridge chipset to avoid.
1 x AMD FX-60
2 x X1900XTX

Oh for the benchmarks I'd like to see. Good luck in your quest. One other thing Phase Change for the CPU.

cheers

So, it all depends on whether you are OCing or not.
The Optys do seem to run a bit lower voltage and run a bit cooler vs the Athlons.
I'd prefer to stay out of the vid card fray coments.
I just prefer the 10x CPU vs a 9x

well....i am first of building this rig primarily to oc the rig...i wanna spend some money on it and see how far can i push it and take on some records...

then i am also looking at using it to play some of my favourite games of course like UT2004, CS and so on....so i need something that can do both...

as for the multis i have never owned amd so not sure about this..but theoratically a lower multi is better right? but am i correct and either way why is it better? as for the display i think i have more or less gone thru things and set my mind on getting the 7800GTX now...next question is which 1? the 256 or the 512? considering that i will get another 1 and make it SLi..and either way which brand? looked at EVGA & XFX now but ultimately who makes the better card and has the better warranty...

PSU-SilverStone Zeus ST65ZF 650Watt The Best. you may need 2!
CPU- Wait for the AMD-M2 if you cant FX-57 4101.98 MHz world record.
Cooling-Vapochill
Memory- 1gb kit OCZ 4800 platinum edtion or OCZ PC5000 Platinum DFI nF4 Special both TCCD 2gb Kit Muskin Redline or Cruical ballstix (older ones)
Mobo- DFI-LanParty SLI-DR(Custom Bios)
V/C- ATI x1900xt are amazing! but nothing will touch the 7900gtx when it's released. According to the report, the chip will contain 32 pixel-processing pipelines in a core clocked at 700-750MHz. The GDDR 3 memory will run at 800-900MHz (1.6-1.8GHz, effective).

Btw How SLI works and Crossfire works, i saw a blueprint on both of them and how they connect and interact with the mobo chipset, you can tell SLI is much more simpler and more thought out, as you know most genius ideas are simple yet effective.
thats not the issue. have you seen those benchies of 2x x1900's? it owns 2 7800gtx clearly. And doesnt it make sense, that instead of having two identical cards trying to orient each other for what they are going to do, you have a Crossfire Master card which does all the organizing and greatly optimizes the performance by doing special "master" tasks that would be much more work for two standard cards?

also, crossfire combines the memory and pixel shaders of two cards which SLI doesnt. so 2x 512mb x1900's = 1GB, while 2x 512mb 7800gtx = 512mb!

i think its pretty clear. let the benchies conclude.

EDIT: just take a look: http://www.firingsquad.com/news/news...?searchid=9223
you can clearly see that once in higher resolutions they just purely OWN.

EDIT : wait wait,i got my numbers mixed up...Your actually comparing a 512mb video card aka the ATI, to a 256mb card aka the 7800GTX,, dude, comon.......2 x1900 vs 2 7800gtx....yeaa..ok... why dont you compare the 512 versions? thats 1g vs 1g of memory. then its worth talking about.

that is all clearly bull****, all the things you hear about the 7900GTX are rumors, i really wanna see you back that up when the 7900GTX actually,... actually gets on the market and people on this forum own them, and can talk about them, ATI just launched their highest card couple months earlier then Nvidias, so they can be on the top for a little while and get a good name, while Nvidia is busting their asses on a pimp gfx that will blow it out of the skies. sure it will be alot more pricey , but its 1 stick, and you get your moneys worth..$$ i just cant wait to see Mark2k6 scores on an SLI setup with the new upcoming AMD processors and mobos that take ddr2.

hey wish i had money like that to spend but i like reading up on stuff alot so here is my opion on what you should do .

for a motherboard if would go for the = DFI expert sli for its overclocks

for memory i would say 2gb of g -skill

cpu = is important if you want to overclock so i would go for the 4800+ because its standard 2.8ghz and quit sure you will get 3.0ghz on air i think lat night saw a guy get 4.0ghz on it with phase change ill find the link so the 4800+

gpu = i would love to wait and get the new 7900gtx but if you cant wait i would go for the 1900xt and not the xtx and save your self a couple of quid seeing they are the same apart from a few mhz so i herd not 100% sure thou
though

dfi expert
2gb g-skill
1900xt/7900gtx
4800+
cooling should be expensive water or phase change
psu not an expert but the sli i one a couple of pages back sounded and looked good hope this helps

4ghz !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! on amd stable

its kinda old the thread at XS....but i hope to outdo the 4.0GHz on water....i have a good feeling it can be done....its all about thermodynamics....

if i can remove enough heat out of the block i will do it and hit 4.0Ghz for the AMD...

but if any1 feels its not possible for AMD (either 4800+ or FX60) to hit 4.0GHz on water with legitimate reasons, let me know coz i want to know so i can be prepared and do the necessary now itself... but I M NOT PHASE CHANGING..for sure....

EDIT: ok....i have been reading lots and i mean lots of reviews the last couple of days....and frankly speaking i am torn between the FX60 & the 4800+....

i know both are toledo cores, both have 2x1mb cache...both are dual cores...so what on earth is different between them 2? why the huge price difference? if it was intel i would understand better but being AMD i am not sure.... i like the fact that FX60 is multiplier unlocked (actually love it) but lots of people are saying that it will not even oc as well as 4800+ (which is multiplier locked). Is this true? am i only paying for the multiplier unlocking? can it get the 4800+ to oc and perform better than the FX60?

plz some1 help...

Do you even understand what you're reading? Do you know what Supertiling, etc even are? Read this article and you can clearly see that there are no SLI combos out there that can even attempt to hang above 1600X1200 with the eye candy on. The performance differences can be as much as 100%. They simply don't have the bandwidth to cope. Read up....
